Civ's Warlords conquer factory

Expansion for Sid Meier's PC empire builder off for replication; eight new scenarios, war-mongering warlords head to stores July 24.

While strategy gamers have been hard at work expanding their virtual empires in Civilization IV since late October, the developers over at Firaxis have been hard at work expanding the game. Today, the fruits of their labor were realized as development of Civilization IV: Warlords has been completed and the gold master sent off for replication.

Mead and wenches sold separately.

Warlords is the first expansion for the game that was named GameSpot's Best PC Game and Best Strategy Game of 2005. The expansion focuses on the military aspect of the game, paying "homage to some of history's greatest military leaders." There will be eight new scenarios for gamers to take on, including the rise of the Roman Empire, events surrounding Genghis Khan's reign, and the conquests of Alexander the Great.

There will of course be new units to tinker with, including the expansion's namesake, the warlords. The powerful warlords will be able to train troops, gain experience at a faster rate, and more.

Civlization IV: Warlords is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older and will retail for $29.99. For more information on the game, head over to GameSpot's previous coverage.

Civ games have always been a favorite of mine. And every expansion that has come onto the market for the civ series has always provided more depth and variety to an already vast game.

Civ4 warlords gonna have mongol scenario pretty cool but i wish they add near future techs and increase the power of the U.N. like in real life and also let allies units restore health in your allied neighbors cities ..(or this is already taking care in civ4) ...well happy civing :)

While Civ4 had a satisfactory amount of solo-replayability (although not NEARLY as much as Alpha Centauri) Civ4 is a BLAST when played multiplayer with a few, equally talented (nerdy) friends. I'm really excited for this x-pack. And I must add, that I think simultaneous turns are a RETARDED way to play the game multiplayer. It's a serious step backwards in gameplay yet everyone does it.

unless those expansions are done because they "forgot" to include them in the begining (looking at you Sims)

Carthage is in this expansion. That alone means I have to buy it.

I don't even think I'[ve gotten enough of Civ4, but expansions are always a nice fresh breath of air.
