The announcement will be made during the Firaxis Mega Games Panel starting at 11:30 a.m. EDT on Saturday, April 12 at the Dragonfly Theatre. GameSpot will be in attendance bringing you the news as it happens.

Firaxis Games' most recent AAA title was 2012's XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which was followed up the next year with expansion pack Enemy Within. The most recent entry in the Civilization series was 2010's Civilization V.

If it's Civilization 6 I'm going to laugh so hard ... and then I'm going to cry.

Just please say it will have *nothing* to do with that awful Bureau: XCOM Declassified game.

My Dad is Jonathan Firaxis, founder and CEO of the company.  The game is Civ VI and it is an Xbox One Kinect exclusive.

Will it be another great franchise from the past turned into console mediocrity instead of realised potential.

After 10 long years a new Sid Meier Pirates would be awesome. Such masterpiece to have a new return...

I have never played a series of Firaxes that I didn't like, so whatever it is, shut up and take my money!

PLEASE...PLEASE....FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY.......MAKE IT FREEDOM FORCE 3

I'm all for a new Pirates, but FF needs to return and Firaxis is the best to pull this off (unless the rights are with Levine)

I would love to see new brand, not just another sequel. Firaxis, you can do better that!

If it's between XCOM and CIV, it'll be Civ since devs who work on multiple titles tend to stagger projects like that. Possible they could revitalize something else, like Alpha Centauri, but we'll find out.

Best guesses? I'm thinking Civ 6, followed by a new XCOM or Alpha Centauri. I think there were some issues with the rights to Alpha Centauri though. What I would LOVE to see is a Sid Meier 4X space conquest game.

I'm hoping Sid Meier decided to take another shot at making his Dinosaurs game that got cancelled years ago.

Gona be a new Gettysburg.

@nyran125tk Why?  Enemy Within was a complete shit sandwich.  They lied about half the stuff they were going to put in and it was unplayably buggy on consoles.

@Master_Turismo  If you would read other comments, you would now, that EA has this IP, not Firaxis. There won't be Alpha Centauri.

@alonfire  the new version form 2004 is actually still really good and id recommend people to play it.

@alonfire I actually had to go back and check after I read your post. 10 FREAKIN YEARS!! Oh, my god I am old. So thanks for that ;)

@TheGreatPhoenix  Have you played Sid Meier's Railroads? Game was fun, but also buggy as hell. Only one patch was released.

@Evil_Sidekick  freedom force was from the guys that made Bioshock and System Shock 2 i think. Ken Levine.

@RZweers That would be awesome.  Especially if it comes with that massive manual again.  :)

PodXCOM

@Boddicker @PodXCOM I know, but XCOM: Enemy Unknown had lots of references to Bureau, and I don't want it to be canon. The Bureau made *lots* of plot-holes, and it didn't really feel like it wanted anything to do with XCOM.

@grognard66 @RZweers  I think you could be interested in Ultimate General: Gettysburg. Gameplay video was just released and it looks awesome in my opinion (go to youtube and type Ultimate General gameplay).

@grognard66 @RZweers  I remember it being some 150 pages thick yet the game was very accessible for something coming with a miniature phonebook.

Vojtass

@RZweers @Vojtass @grognard66  Then you can be sure, that proper Firaxis Gettysburg game wouldn't be better that Ultimate General. Well, maybe except graphics and physics.

@Vojtass @grognard66 @RZweers  As a TW gamer I knew that game was coming so had been following it for some time. It certainly is an interesting battle simulator to play on my tablet.
