Civ II: Test of Time Out

Hasbro announces that the latest chapter in the Civilization series has reached shelves.

While we have already seen the title on shelves over the weekend, Hasbro Interactive announced the launch of Civilization II: Test of Time. The latest in the Civ II lineup, the game offers the original Civilization II game (expanded with the colonization of the Centaurus star system) and branches out with two new universes: science fiction and fantasy. Each universe will have its own terrain, graphics, and technology trees. Players will have maps link to four worlds of strategy - much like playing four tiers of chess at one time. Basically, you'll fight enemies and creatures in subterranean, underwater environments, as well as in the skies and in space stations, while you develop technologies on each world to survive, conquer, and develop.

While GameSpot News hasn't played a recent or final version of the game, an early playable beta given to us by MicroProse/Hasbro was a blast. Look for a full-featured review of the game on GameSpot soon.
