PC gamers who have always wanted to gaze out over a city while wringing their hands and gleefully cackling "Mine...it's all mine!" will get a chance to do so for free today. The single-player demo of City Life will premiere on GameSpot this evening at 5 p.m. PDT.

City Life may sound familiar to sim fans of days past, but this one has a bit of a twist. In addition to planning out the perfect layout for a thriving 21st-century metropolis, gamers will need to manage the demands of each social class. Disrupting social harmony results in unhappy citizens, something that can boil over into messy riots and SWAT teams.

The demo will feature three of the six rungs of the game's social ladder, as well as their associated buildings, on the map Rock Lake.

City Life is being developed by Monte Cristo and will be published in North America by CDV Interactive. The game is expected in stores this June and is rated E for Everyone. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
