Check out the first gameplay trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight

Rocksteady releases new trailer for its upcoming Xbox One, PS4, and PC game.

Rocksteady Games today released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC action game Batman: Arkham Knight. Titled "Evening The Odds," the trailer shows off the Batmobile, as well as city of Gotham and the enemies Batman will face along the way.

The video ends on a serious note, with the mysterious Arkham Knight saying, as he holds a gun to Batman's head, "There is no savior. No more hope. No more Batman." Batman: Arkham Knight is expected to launch this fall.

Batman: Arkham Knight is set 12 months after the events of 2011's Batman: Arkham City, and allows you to drive the Batmobile in an open world that is said to be five times the size of Arkham City. In terms of story, Scarecrow has returned to Gotham and he's scheming to bring together a group of supervillains like Penguin, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn to take down Batman.

No "The Division" this year, Watch Dogs was not the graphical epic that was promised a few years back. This by far is the best damn looking game I've seen and the previous ones (Made by Rocksteady) are fun as hell. Only on PS4 and X1, this game is looking to be the sleeper hit of the year.

So did this game actually get pushed back or not? Gamestop still has it at 10/14/2014

I hope all of you understand that practically all of this was in engine. Can't wait for Rocksteady to properly complete the Arkham story!

Am I wrong in thinking that a website about gaming should know the definition of the word "gameplay"?

Not seeing much/any gameplay in this supposed "gameplay trailer".

Super-awesome. Ardently waiting for its release.

Well, it's Rocksteady, and by not making previous Batman game, they had more time to develop this one. I'm very optimistic.

It's sad that the video game makers takes promising games like this series & milk them til they're a emaciated cow instead of making them into a truly epic game that it could be!

The city looks completely bare like the last one, I don't like buying junk games but will need this for my bat collection, otherwise how the hell will I ever become batman.

Are they going to add something to the game, then?  While they opened the world up between 1 and 2, it's still pretty much the same game we had the first time around.

This is not pre-rendered, I'm more or less certain this is rendered in real time, possibly cut scenes, or it could be actual gameplay from a slightly more cinematic camera angle to make things more exciting. I wish people would stop whining cut scenes and gameplay and just appreciate the trailer for what it is.

This is a trailer designed to get you excited about the game, not to show off the graphics, even if they are pretty impressive. That will come nearer the time.

Brace yourselves. A graphical downgrade is coming.

I'm not impressed. Looks kind of blah. Where's the gameplay? Just a bunch of cinematics with 2 sec bits of actual gameplay.

Who is that main protagonist exactly..??.....any of you comicbook readers know...?.

his suit looks badass though....just waiting to be cosplayed.

Also is he the Arkham Knight...??

Best looking open world game, next to The Witcher 3. Rocksteady will bring the goods as far as narrative and gameplay too.

This looks cool however I would like to see gameplay footage.

pff.. his costume is a joke and more metal, more than ever...  please, it has to be a joke.  He is batman, not Iron man.

maybe they'll put "sad batman" skin in the game

Yay! 5 seconds of game play and 2 minutes of ingame cutscenes!!!

They made Batman a little too bulky... still looks promising.

Since it's only "Next gen"  I will get this for a great deal in a couple years when it's worth upgrading.

I worry that there will be too much focus on the Batmobile that will take away from the rest of the game.

Just not understanding him wearing all these metal suits and having agile mobility. Batman looks like he stepped off the set of gears of war.

@LiquidGold Dude city is looking amazing. I do not know if you are looking for the brightness and color as of NYC then you did not understand Gotham city. This city has to have a dejected and cold atmosphere.

@Zloth2  They had the recipe book open while making CoD and someone accidentally followed it while making this.

1 cup previous game

3 pinches of sugar

stir till $h!t flavor is not present or faint enough to dismiss being there

Bake at 420 for 30 min or until it is too hard to see similar game play

Serve with beer

@Securator  The Arkham Knight is a brand new original character created by Rocksteady in collaboration with DC Comics.

darkmatter00

@Securator Yes he is the "Arkham Knight" and I'm pretty sure its Azrael the guy who took over for Batman after Bane broke Bruce / Batman's back. Batman came back into action to stop him because since Azrael used guns and actually killed if I remember the comic correctly. So instead of a bomb like the 3rd Nolan movie the Dark Knight came back to stop someone who was breaking the "batman law" of going too far and being a true vigilante.

There was lots of gameplay footage in that trailer. I guess it looks so good that some of you think it is all CGI or cutscenes.

Securator

@pharoe777  yeah they always do that....he looked leaner in the promotional artwork released before now....i guess it has something to do with unreal engine's 3d models....

Darth_Aloysius
Darth_Aloysius

@tableofjapan  The irony is that this complaints are emerging from the fact that the difference between the cutscenes and the gameplay is indistinguishable, indicating the gameplay will be *very* high quality.

not_thebigo3d
not_thebigo3d

@tableofjapan  cut scenes are not gameplay. there is always a huge difference in the quality of pre rendered cut scenes vs what you will actually see when you are running around.

Divisionbell
Divisionbell

Well since it's the first time we get the batmobile I expect them to show it off. No reason to think it'll be too much.

mark_unix
mark_unix

@thesilverape @mark_unix indeed, it's lazy, no matter how much you rework an engine it'll always only be as good as the core-base and unreal 3 is truly god awful..

WereCatf
WereCatf

@Darth_Aloysius @tableofjapanHow would you know whether cutscenes and actual gameplay is graphically indistinguishable if there's no video of actual gameplay available yet? Also, quality of gameplay != graphical fidelity.

kalipekona
kalipekona

@not_thebigo3d @tableofjapan

No, most games have cutscenes that look very close to gameplay. I doubt there will be much difference here. There was gameplay in this trailer anyway and it looked equally good.
