Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune today released a 90-second gameplay clip for his upcoming game Mighty No. 9. The footage you see is for a work-in-progress version of the game. It highlights various stages and boss battles that you'll encounter in the final version.

Mighty No. 9 is becoming a reality thanks to an overwhelmingly successful Kickstarter campaign, which rocketed past its $900,000 goal, ending with $3.8 million last year. The side-scrolling action game is being worked on by Inafune himself and a team of designers at his studio, Comcept.

The final game is expected to launch by April 2015. It was originally targeted to launch only for PC, but thanks to overflow funding, the game will also be delivered on consoles like the Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and 3DS.

In Mighty No. 9, you play as Beck, the 9th in a line of "powerful robots." You're the only one not infected by a computer virus that has made other mechanized creatures go berserk. It's your task to run, jump, and shoot your way through various stages--using weapons and abilities taken from your enemies--to finally "confront the final evil that threatens the planet."
