Last week, Epic Games showed off a level from Unreal Tournament in development at Epic Games. Today, the developer has posted a more extensive look at the game, showing off a few minutes of early team deathmatch footage. You can check it out above.

Although the environments are pretty much devoid of textures, the gun models seem to be fully designed and the action looks smooth and impressive. Gameplay looks high-speed and chaotic, as well.

Most of the video is taken up by discussions of what the team is working on right now. This includes adding in almost all of the weapons and more complex levels. The developer has also been focusing on movement, making it feel swift while also making weapons, such as the sniper rifle, usable.

Yesterday, a video podcast posted by the Unreal Tournament team showed off even more gameplay. As the developers talk about the features and changes they are making, the video features about thirty minutes of deathmatch footage.

Although the game is still very early in development, it's encouraging to get this early look at the newest entry in the storied franchise. Epic announced the project in May and promised that development would be transparent throughout the process. There's no release window yet for the game, but we do know that it will be free, and that Epic will allow community members to sell content on the game's marketplace. The developer will take a cut from content sales to pay for the game's creation.
