Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD coming to 360 and PS3

Konami bringing 3DS adventure to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 31, with series producer Dave Cox saying a PC version is being considered.

by

Konami has announced that its 3DS adventure Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate will be released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD will be available to download from October 31, said Konami on its Facebook page. Meanwhile, series head Dave Cox said on Twitter that the developer was "seriously looking" to get the game onto PC.

Cox also added that Wii U and Vita versions weren't being considered.

GameSpot awarded the 3DS version of Mirror of Fate a score of 7.0 when it was reviewed in March.

Mirror of Fate isn't the first 3DS game to transition to home consoles: Capcom's Resident Evil: Revelations was ported to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC earlier this year.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, which is set in the present day, will be released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in November.

Just played the demo.. and i gotta say it's complete ass. it's boring, repetitive, has stupid enemies that just stand there while you kill them,too many long loading screens, horrible graphics,ugly looking character designs(looks like it should have been release during the early days of the PS2 at best), the characters in the "cutscenes " move robotically, and keep pausing every few seconds for no reason... it's just a bad game in every way imaginable. even at 15 dollars, it's still not worth it.

When the game came out, I seriously wonder if i should buy the 3DS, but I decided not  to;  it was the same with the new persona 4 for psvita; I truly could spend my whole life without playing those games,  but now that it is coming to the consoles I have, i will surely buy it.

Is it so hard to create a superb castlevania game?

They just have to copy Symphony of the night and add 3d graphics.

Whats so hard about it you stupid developers?

Oh yea baby! That will do until the release of LoS2, and finally, no need to own a 3DS to own the LoS trilogy!!!

I'm pretty happy to hear this even though I own the 3DS game. I wonder how much it will cost on PS3/360, though.

Wanna make some big money Konami?

Reboot Symphony of the Night:  HD, 3D on a 2D plane and multiple playable characters.  Updated monster designs and some spiffy new special effects.

I'll be there on release day with money in my sweaty palms.  I'd probably buy 2.

Castlevania: SotN - I've bought 2 copies for the original PS and again digitally on X360.  That game touches me in special places.

Waiting for it on that retail collection.  Why buy a rental?

i feel like strange, pointless decisions are becoming the norm now with the companies during the transition to next-gen. a 12gb ps3? SURE! an overpriced HD port of a semi-decent handheld tiile to the older consoles? why not? oh but we don't have plans to port it to the OTHER handheld when it would probably work just as well. i don't WANT to play these kinds of game on a big screen, i like taking them on the road or playing them in bed and this game SCREAMS for cross-buy. talk about missed opportunities.

The only thing this game felt lacking was the awesome upbeat music...it was mainly all somber violins and such.  Yet a tight 2D-style game...  I'll play this again over the LoS.

I wonder how Mercury Steam feels about getting canned, and then this coming out.

Assuming they don't screw up the controls like Capcom did with RE:R...I'll be all for this. It'll be nice to have all 3 games on 1 platform (nothing against the 3DS...I just like having everything in one neat place). If the controls do suck, I'll just get this on the 3DS anyway. I'm almost done with the first one too.

I kinda pissed off now. it hasn't even been a year and they're releasing HD versions on different consoles. Gee thanks konami Make a better looking version after I bought it for the 3DS. Why the hell did you make it a 3DS exclusive in the first place? Assholes >:(

I love the 3DS but it has Shitty graphics.

Konami: The reason this Castlevania game didn't sell well is not because it was on the 3DS; it didn't sell well because it's laughably bad compared to your previous portable Castlevania games. Put more effort into making your games fun, and they'll -- surprise, surprise -- sell better!

It's certainly great to see Konami going full tilt into the PC. I'd always heard that they wanted to and now it looks like they finally are. I'm sure
that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be on PC.

I certainly wouldn't buy it again, but I really enjoyed the game on 3DS.

The problem with the past casltevania games is that they should have been called " Castlevania Symphony of the night Wannabe 1 , Castlevania Symphony of the night Wannabe 2, Castlevania Symphony of the night Wannabe 3, 4, 5, 6, ..... and so on" I was honestly sick to death of metrodvanias even though I loved Symphony. LoS was a welcome change for me.

Mosíah Fernandes

Honestly, Lords of Shadow sucks. It doesn't have any rpg element or exploration, and soundtrack sucks (something Castlevania was always epic on all three)

@matticles

Your telling Konami dont make new games remake old ones.

Symphony of the Night was remade with HD graphics and multiple playable characters.

@gargungulunk canned? they worked on 3 castlevanias, they only ever said they would make 3 games before moving on to something else.

@REVOLUTIONfreak Well said.

I can't wait for Mercury Steam to not work on the Castlevania license. Their games are totally mediocre.

Redblaze27

@lonesamurai1 They just need to sync release dates up between platforms. Releasing the game after the hype dies down on PC i'm sure doesn't help the sales.

@suprasheep Don't tell the "real" fans that. They hate anything that isn't metroidvania, they all hate LoS because it wasn't metroidvania with 3D graphics.

@Mosíah Fernandes Honestly, while I wasn't a huge fan of any of the 3d Catlevania games I've tried, personally the only "Metroidvania" I liked was SOTN and still prefer the NES, SNES, and WiiWare versions, though SOTN was still pretty awesome.

@Kyrylo

I'm not saying make the whole game 3d, but rather 3d characters/monsters on a 2d plane.

It's about having more graphical "depth" to the characters and background without sacrificing the classic 2d side-scrolling gameplay.

Like this:

Shadow Complex is a great game, would recommend it to any SotN or Super Metroid fan.

@hatieshorrer

I never said don't make new ones, and this is an article about taking an existing Castlevania game and moving it to another platform - not a new game in any sense of the word, just a different delivery outlet.

SotN has never been HD.  The "remake" was a re-release of the exact same game on 360, and I mean EXACT.

@Nosnitsttam @gargungulunk

I dunno, I seem to remember M.S. saying how much more of a story they wanted to flesh out; ...and that the first few games were just starting blocks in the story.  ...not sure where I heard that tho.

@Stonecutters908 @REVOLUTIONfreak wohoho. wait a second! LoS1 was amazing! maybe its not a classic Castlevania game but its one of the best Action Adventures of this generation!

i am also a die hard fan of the classic games but just because its different doesn't make it bad!

have you ever played the first one? if you only played the demo you know nothing about this game, i played the demo first and thought it only is a bad God of War clone but the final game has way more puzzles and exploration than the demo might suggest.

KimCheeWarriorX
KimCheeWarriorX

@Stonecutters908 @REVOLUTIONfreak unfortunately, lords of shadow is like the only real successful 3d castlevania game that konami has ever published thanks to mercury steam. konami just cant seem to get the knack of producing a blockbuster and traditional castlevania game in 3d. granted lament of innocence and curse of darkness were ok games but nothing to really "wow" you. although mercury steam's a fairly mediocre game development studio, theyre the best thing thats happened to the castlevania franchise in awhile (with the exception of castlevania hd, which is mostly a multiplayer game).

kabalzer0

@DIGN @suprasheep well... you get new abilities and can go back to old areas to open some new paths...

so it had mild Metroidvania elements :)

@kabalzer0 @Stonecutters908 @REVOLUTIONfreak  thats true, this is a great game, i have played several games of castlevania,  mostly ps1, ps2 and the ones in xbox360, and I love them, and i also love this game, is different, new, but with a similar feeling; its like the new game of tomb raider, it is a total different experience,  but not bad at all

@kabalzer0 @Stonecutters908 @REVOLUTIONfreak Yeah I thought the demo was lame with that horse part where you fight off werewolves..But I saw my friend play multiple times 2 years ago I thought it looked great and the PC release with all the dlcs/xpac and added content for only 26$ is really interesting.
