While some citizens are sound asleep Saturday morning recovering from Red Bull-fueled, marathon gaming binges, there's another part of the populace just waking up to be entertained--children. That may change soon, as Cartoon Network today announced that it is developing a massively multiplayer online game.

The unnamed project, scheduled for release in spring 2008, is currently being developed by Grigon Entertainment, a Korean studio that has experience in the MMO market with titles such as Seal Online. The multinational effort on the game is no coincidence--Cartoon Network is targeting a global audience.

A full list of the game's cast hasn't yet been released, but characters from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Ben 10, and Codename: Kids Next Door have been confirmed. The game, which will be free to download and feature microtransactions, will allow players to develop their characters and form virtual friendships in a "persistent and expanding world." No platforms were mentioned.
