Back in August of last year, Microsoft unveiled a trio of Xbox Live Arcade games based on board games from across the Atlantic. During the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, the publisher announced that Setllers of Catan (now just Catan), Carcassonne, and Alhambra would be coming to its game download service. All three have yet to be made available, but over the weekend, one was given a release window.

Sierra Online has announced that gamers will have a chance to do some strategizing in Carcassonne this June. The company did not give any further specifics on the exact date or price of the game.
Carcassonne, named after a French city famous for its high city walls, is a tile-based game that sees players placing plots of terrain on a large board. Only certain tiles can be placed adjacent to others, forming cities, roads, and fields. Sierra Online has not gone into details about the Xbox 360 version of the game.
Mehh, I'd rather play SIm City.
How about some Risk sometime in the future MS?
Never played this board game but willing to give it a try, looks interesting
THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE GREATEST GAME EVER. BOARD GAME.
board games?
snake-101- wow heres another one *checks off 360 crap list* 30 games are starting to become very dumb and kiddish now lol I wonder if there are any PS3 owners that aren't 10 year old Sony fanboys?

What do you do in the game?
Board Games... Nice!!!
I love this game I played it at a family reunion one time and was hooked. I bought the original and then when I took a trip to france we found the second expansion in french so ya I really need a 360 now
wow!! this board game seriously owns!! I only just played it last week and have been looking for a cheap set all week! I never expected this, I didnt think it would be popular enough. This will be bloody great- I want it now!! :)
yaye?
Too bad that Microsoft has already proved that a month's date doesnt' mean it will come out that month (apparently double dragon was preped for March.) Still it's great to see some european board games on Live, those will get instant buys from me. Though I hope they do imperial (that's a nasty game).
Carcasonne? Sweet, let's hope 360 gets an even wider variety of Italian desserts. Tiramisu please?
I had never heard of a game called Carcasonne, but I've been to the city...Very beautyful fortifications, largest ramparts I've ever seen.
sounds like fun
NIce.
Carcassonne is the best board game - ever! I hope they will release it on ps3 too!
Talisman would be awesome. Best part for developer/publisher is that each expansion could be a separate purchase. City, Dungeon, TimeScape could all be add-ons. It is a cool game--add online play and it would be Suuuhhhweeeeeet.
Risk on PC was excellent. I'd love to see it on XBLA.
Agreed, Britesparc. Dig the board games! 3D live action Risk, anyone?
This is a really fun little boardgame, so hopefully it will feature a variety of multiplayer and single player options to keep the fun. More boardgames on 360!
Awesomely fun board games to play with friends. Lets just hope they can recreate the fun as well as the silliness you get when playing with real friends.
The XBLA keeps getting better, and better.
never heard of it, but it sounds like fun. I might give it a go.
Both Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan are great board games, and I've been looking forward to their release since they were announced. Catan is supposed to be coming out any week now, and it seems Carcassonne won't be too far behind. XBLA is really picking up some steam.
sound cool
interesting... what is it like? Never heard if it...
I haven't played this yet, I might give it a go.
Now this is strategy. I've got Settlers of Catan and its expansion board Cities and Knights, and boy it's a blast to play. I wonder how close to the board games these will be...
Carcassone and Catan are great games. Both are light in complexity, but reward you well for playing strategically.
Did Sierra Online ever get around to offering up a patch for Assault Heroes? If so, then maybe they will win back some support from the marketplace crowd before they keep selling us broken games.
Board game?
This doesn't sound like a game that would interest me too much. But the strategy does sound new for the XBLA
I just tried this game out last Friday. I miraculously won due to clever placement of farmers... It was kind of weird, because I felt dejected about how poorly I was doing for most of the game.
Cool I guess. Not my preferred game type, but it's nice to have the variety and the best thing is I get to try this out without a problem.
I have been to Carassonne as a student. Great town on/carved into a hill.
I WANT RISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait for Catan, don't know about this though
Cool I suppose, though Im not all that familiar with these sort of games, however the closest thing I have played to this was Risk, a long time ago.
Sounds OKAY, but nothing special.
looks interesting... i guess
I'm In
A Board style game? Reminds me of a board-style game I once played on the PC called Full Metal Planete (spelled as is--it was European in origin), where you played on a gameboard of varied hexagonal spaced trying to mine a planet with your spaceship equipped with tanks, harvesters, etc. Being designed for up to four players, I think this game would make an interesting Live Arcade game as well.
Sounds pretty cool to me
never heard of it
Carcassonne (the article title misspelled it, BTW) is a very fun game. There's several layers of strategy to it but also a fair amount of luck, and the game strikes a good balance between the two. It's also very easy to pick up and play for a strategy game. The actual board game is only $18 so hopefully the Live Arcade version will be cheap enough to justify a purchase. Should be fun to play online.
I love the board game version of this (one of the best games I've ever played). It's simple yet hav a lot of depth to it.
cool
Never heard of the game before - but indeed it sounds fun. :)
