Captain Scarlet coming to the PC

UK-based Batfish Studios and Digital Workshop have today announced that Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons will be released for the PC this summer. The game will see players assuming control of the indestructible Captain Scarlet, Captain Blue, and a number of other Spectrum agents as they take on the evil Captain Black and the Mysterons in the year 2068.

According to today's press release, locales in the game will include fog-shrouded docks, polar oil refineries, and Spectrum's cloudbase. Missions in the game will see players rescuing crashed angel pilots, investigating Egyptian tombs, and protecting an underwater base. It's not yet clear what kind of game Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons will actually be, but Batfish Studios has revealed that players will get to use vehicles including Spectrum saloon cars, angel interceptors, and the Spectrum pursuit vehicle.

"Captain Scarlet is as entertaining and relevant now as it was when it was first broadcast 35 years ago," said Philip Harris, lead developer at Batfish Studios. "With such a strong background to work from we've been able to design a game that will appeal to gamers of all ages, whether they are familiar with Captain Scarlet or not."

Digital Workshop will publish Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons in the UK this summer. No release details have been confirmed for the rest of Europe or North America at this time, but we'll bring you more information on the game as it becomes available.
