Capcom's PlayStation Support

Capcom confirms that it is still dedicated to the PlayStation platform with four upcoming titles.

PlayStation owners take heart - Capcom announced yesterday in Las Vegas that it still plans on bringing a pile of stuff to your favorite gray box (despite all its extra-special attention to the Dreamcast as of late). Capcom told us it will bring Jojo's Venture, Resident Evil Survivor, Marvel vs. Capcom EX, and The Adventures of Tron Bonne (the Megaman Legends side story) to the PlayStation.

Jojo's Venture is the American name for Capcom's arcade game of the same name. You control one of ten-plus characters, each of which has his or her own "stand," a partner of psychic origins who assists you in your battles. Unlike in Marvel vs. Capcom, your "stand" is always present.

RE Survivor is Capcom's light-gun game that utilizes a funky new control scheme, which at first may seem confusing but ultimately is supposed to be intuitive. The environments are rendered in full 3D, not prerendered like the traditional Resident Evil games.

Marvel vs. Capcom EX is Capcom's attempt at porting another RAM-intensive 2D fighter to the PlayStation. While a year ago this would have seemed ludicrous, recent ports of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Japanese CPS-III game) and Street Fighter Alpha 3 have given us reason to hope for the best because of their high quality.

The Adventures of Tron Bonne is the non-sequel side story to Megaman Legends and was released in Japan this past spring. The game obviously centers around Megaman's nemesis from Legends, Tron Bonne, and is an entertaining melange of mini-missions and hysterical situations. Action-RPG or platform-adventure? You decide.

Stay tuned for full-on previews of these titles in the very near future.
