Capcom working on new fighting game

Street Fighter producer announces Capcom is hiring for a new fighting game.

by

Street Fighter series producer Yoshinori Ono has revealed that Capcom is working on a new fighting game. Ono announced the details in a Twitter post advertising openings for a game designer and programmer at the developer.

"I want.... no, Capcom wants Game Designer and programmer for New Fighting Game. Its location at Tokyo or Osaka Studio," Ono tweeted.

No further details about the game were given. Following up in response to a fan's comment on its release for next-generation consoles, Ono tweeted, "I don't know [that's] our target platform."

Previously, Capcom producer Tomoaki Ayano stated that Street Fighter V would take the developer "until the year 2018" to finish and release.

Additionally, Yoshinori Ono confirmed earlier this year that Street Fighter V is not in development due to budgetary restraints. He also revealed that there are no plans to bring the next iteration in the series, Ultra Street Fighter IV, to next-generation consoles.

Ultra Street Fighter IV will introduce new content, including five characters, six stages, and a host of gameplay tweaks. For more, check out GameSpot's interview with Capcom about the pack below.

A new fighting game is good and all, but I'm still waiting for God Hand 2.

I know Ono said there are no plans for bringing Ultra to Next gen, but I bet they will re release it in 1080p and 60FPS in the future.

Capcom should make Ken's son Mel the new face of street fighter

Imagine a Mega Man compiled fighting game, followed by a driving, sci-fi story of history, emotion and technology. Fighting capabilities are more expanded (not a simple buster or saber sword -- because as we know, robots and reploids and such, are WAY more capable than just your base weaponry). Interesting dialogue by the chunk, NO street fighter exclusives (some aren't worth the cameo, however.)

Maybe it can be more than a fighting game, but include a massive over-world adventure mode, more keen to stay coherent to the franchise's simple yet challenging magic -- that can be played with local co-op (online co-op too..), and depending on the chosen pair (and the actions taking place), the story's path changes.

One can only dream..and dream much since it's Capcom..*sigh*

I'd be fine with a next-gen Marvel vs. Capcom, SFV or SF Alpha 4.

People asking for SFV are retarded. They can't really do anything else to the game to warrant a 5th, so they release balance updates and new characters. The reality of it is, you're asking Capcom to do the same shit that Activision is doing. Releasing new games with very little changes other than a few tweaks.

Darkstalkers is overdue for a revival. Either that or something targeting the new consoles, maybe Street Fighter V.

Crapcom is trash, this new fighter will only be a beta version with tons bs dlc. Than 6 months later Crapcom will release the ultimate version for full retail price. Fuck Capcom.

Capcom is arguably the best fighting game developer in the video game industry. Obviously, this is worthwhile news.

Hey selfish fanboys, instead of just demanding for a new sequel, why don't you demand Capcom to stop using shitty DLC, DLC characters, title updates, bare bone content, and crappy online? It's because of bullshit like USFIV is the reason why Capcom only has 152 million dollars in the bank right now.

Oh is i the Ultra Mega Mind Blowing Ultimate Edition of The Century Street Fighter IV which will sell for 60$ and will have 60$ of new DLC that will be include in the next edition with a whole new set of DLC ... way to go Capcom, this gen you lost your legendary taste in making games ...

SF and MvC is not new.

This is just sad. I can't even be angry with Capcom anymore as far as they have fallen. They basically killed of all their IPs outside of SF, and even that is relegated to being a joke, with them releasing 50 versions of the same game. And now there big news is a new fighter.

These guys have just lost it. Even among fighters SF is a second tier citzen these days, I would rather play GG, BB, DS, SG, SSBs, or any of a number of fighters over SF, only Tekken has probably fared worse.

@joshphillips you already got DS return recently, re-release or not, at least its SOMETHING, unlike for Capcom vs SNK fans.

@RabidBurp That would also be nice, but I'm pulling for Darkstalkers. It's long overdue for a proper sequel.

@Enforcer246 Arguably, they've done with SFIV what a developer SHOULD be doing with a game: supporting it long after release with new content, updates, and tweaks.

They're sitting on a number of great franchises, and are doing nothing with them. Darkstalkers is definitely due a sequel, Power Stone would be great...I'd even be willing to get behind a sequel to Warzards/Red Earth.

@heartindarkness read the article before u comment. they are making new FIGHTING game, not action adventure or action role-playing

RJLateralus

@Yomigaeru @Enforcer246 Yeah, haters gonna hate, people that dont even play the game hate the updates, but we the fans of fighting games are excited about Ultra.

Also, Street fighter success might be keeping Capcom alive, they don't have money because they release garbage like RE7 or Lost planet games, destroying good games like Devil May Cry or ditch Mega man.

Capcom is selling what they want, not what their customers really want.

DesertEaglex24

@Gruntlock @the_repo_man6754 Are you stupid? He's whining about capcom selling incomplete games at full price and selling the rest of the finished content as separate dlc.

Yomigaeru
Yomigaeru

@lanmanna @Coco_pierrot On that note...have any of the SFIV re-releases been full price? I'm pretty sure they were each $40 as a retail package, and also available as a downloadable update for a lower price.
