Capcom remixes retro collection for PSP

Original Street Fighter, Strider games featured in lineup for latest edition of archival arcade anthology.

When Capcom Classics Collection came out, it compiled 22 of the company's greatest arcade hits, with a handful of glaring exceptions. With the PSP release, dubbed Capcom Classics Collection Remixed, scheduled for March of next year, the publisher is scaling back the number of games included to 20 but is including some of the games that were overlooked in the last outing.

The original Street Fighter, Strider, and 1941 highlight the additions to the collection, but they are far from the only new faces in the lineup. At least half of the games on the PSP version of the collection will be new, including Avengers, Block Block, Captain Commando, Magic Sword, Quiz and Dragons, Three Wonders, and Varth.

Capcom Classics Collection Remixed will include wireless multiplayer support, differing aspect ratios for each game to take advantage of the PSP's wide screen, downloadable music, abundant bonus materials, and customizable controls.

Yet another collection that would ave been great on PS2 shows up on PSP instead. I fail to see the positive in this announcement. Still a game worth getting, though. :)

That's weak. That's a better line up of games than the original version for the PS2 has. Strider, Magic Sword, and Varth (the greatest shooter that no one played) are three games I had been complaining had been left out originally. Still not getting a PSP though.

KIELW93, perhaps you have more reasons to get a Nintendo DS? I mean the lower price means more games, doesn't it? And isn't that what christmas is really all about!

I'm glad that Quiz and Dragons is on there, now I have a reason to get it for my PSP as well as my PS2. I tried Strider. What a crap game. I really cannot see why people made such a fuss over that one being absent. I am disappointed that Side-Arms isn't in either version. Unlike Strider, Side-Arms is actually a classy game. Sure it's just a side scrolling shoot-em-up, but what makes the game is when you get THAT autofire....

That's nice and all, but what about The King of Dragons? Or Knights of the Round? Will those games be on the compilation?

Still a little pissed that the PSP version has Strider and the PS2 version does not. I mean seriously, did they really need to put in the game with the damn pirates in barrels?
