Capcom puckering up for Sour Patch Kids

Soundtrack featuring Method Man song "World Gone Sour (The Lost Kids)" sweetens the deal for downloadable Xbox 360, PS3, and PC action adventure game based on top American sour candy brand.

Capcom may be best known for franchises like Mega Man, Resident Evil, and Street Fighter, but the publisher has also produced games based on unconventional licenses like Yo! Noid for the NES (starring the Dominos Pizza mascot of the time) and Mr. Bill for iOS, featuring a clay character from Saturday Night Live decades after his last appearance on the show. Capcom today expanded its menagerie of unusual licenses with the announcement of a new Sour Patch Kids-based downloadable game.

This could be the biggest gaming-candy crossover since 2002's Skittles-based Darkened Skye.

Set for release next spring for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC, World Gone Sour is an action adventure game that will see players jump into the gummy shoes of "a lost piece of candy finding its way to its ultimate destination - the human stomach." However, the player's quest to be digested will be a journey fraught with obstacles, as the lost confection will need to traverse everyday environments, such as a movie theater concession stand, and avoid the clutches of rival candies (like gum). World Gone Sour will support local cooperative play for two, as well as global leaderboards and achievements/trophies. The game will sell for $5 (400 Microsoft points).

Providing some street cred to the candy-based game will be hip-hop artist Method Man, who is contributing the track "World Gone Sour (The Lost Kids)" to the game. It will also feature the voice talents of Creed Bratton, best known for his portrayal of Creed Bratton on The Office.

@ABEzilla116 You obviously missed the entirety of the joke, as well as lack reading comprehension. When did I say it was a bad game?

I'm sorry Capcom, all I heard was "buying a full game with only DLC, you hate Mega Man/Infaune/your customers, and $40 remakes of the last 7 games with one additional costume/character per game".

Love "Sour Patch Kids" in candy form. One of my favorite movie snacks, But as a Videogame? Unless they did a remake of Tatio's "Liquid Kids" but this time featuring the Sour Patch Kids. Honesty I just cannot see this game working out. Another food product marketing videogame, eg SneakKing, The McKids,Cool-Aid Man,Chester Cheetoos,7-Up The California Raisins etc. There have been many Videogame food marketing try-ins over the years. But they have always Sucked. So this new game is doomed to Sour at retail. Sorry this game is going to fail. End of story.

hmm, a game about candy...will the pre-order bonus be a bag of sour patch kids, and one has a DLC code for a different colour?

Next Spring? Not gonna happen as I'll be saving up for the WiiU. I'll be buying the WiiU day one. Also, you better wait for the Super Sour Edition, then the Cashier Desk Edition and then the FULL version the Ultimately Sour Edition. Watch somebody download the normal one and get upset when the next edition comes out.

Well capcom lost it completly. No one coming to buy this. Capcom go look at your sales report in the past and do this games what sold even more. Megaman was massive and axe whole thing. Capcom if you go down you got yourself to blame .

Capcom, releasing DLC that should have been in the game, is being Sour to the gamers

Dropping Megaman Legends 3 for this was one of the most dumbest mistakes Capcom has done. Megaman pretty much made your company famous you know Capcom

How quick some people are to forget that Capcom made licensed titles in the past. Or have people not played Aladdin or the Duck Tales games? With the Moon song? Launchpad McQuack is disappointed.

@Ovirew I know! Even the adver-games were incredibly good back then, nowadays they suck (I'm looking at you Yaris).

@KillerJuan77 Man, that was a good game. I miss Spot. : ( 7Up has been less interesting to me ever since he vanished.

I remember that Darkened Skye game, it looked pretty cool. Didn't know it had anything to do with Skittles, though. I didn't know Capcom made a Mr. Bill game, neat. And I liked Yo Noid! as a kid, but recall it being a re-skin of some other Japanese game. I used to like SPK but since my teeth are in bad shape these days, I rarely eat them. The game sounds like something different, anyway. Funny that Creed Bratton is doing voice-work in the game, they just played "Midnight Confessions" on the radio a few minutes ago when I was driving home. XD
