Like an outbreak of unholy undead, Capcom's TV advertising push for the Xbox 360 action game Dead Rising is coming in waves and expanding quickly. The publisher today announced that it is doubling its efforts to get the vacant stares of the walking dead in front of the vacant stares of TV audiences nationwide, following up an initial $3 million worth of TV ads with $3 million more. The ads will air on cable networks like Comedy Central, Spike TV, MTV, and ESPN, as well as broadcast network Fox. Last month, Capcom announced that it had shipped 500,000 copies of Dead Rising in the game's first two weeks of availability.
They have already announce they wont be fixing the text and if this game is called a survival/comedy whats so wrong with the save system? I rather have the one we have now (gta Style) then a halo style save system. anyways good luck capcom.
yea, they need more exposure cuz the ads were pretty lame from what i saw. and i agree with the previous replies, put some money into patching the save system and text for SDTVs.
They should spend 3million on fixing the horrible save system in the game with a patch available from xbox live! That would make me wanna play it more. Right now it sits on my shelf and I keep playing saint's row b/c I usually only have 30min-1 hour of gaming per day and I can save Sain'ts row whenever I need to go.
not sure i'd agree with spending another 3 mil... sounds like a waste.. better yet give me the 3 mil you wanna spend on advertising. I have the game it's great and i'll be your spokesperson.
I'll advertise Dead Rising right here, I got it on Friday. Brilliant game, and an absolute killer app for 360.
The fonts are small in hd 2 but readable. besides most of the text goes to your to do list check your watch. the game is sick off the hook tons of stuff to do! many ways to kill zombies Iam lovin it!
I am so dat gone glad I am not the only that bought this game even though I saved 10 bucks via EBay and upset with the small text. Now I had planned all the long to purchase a HD TV but not because this darn game is making my eyesight go bad. CAPCOM take heed and do something NOW about the teeny weeny text.
yeah.. they shld spend it on fixing the tiny mini words in the screen.. they are forcing us to squirm our eyes so much!!
"duck_watson - its not out in australia yet but on the back of the dummy boxes in stores it says it has 2-10 player co op and 64 player multiplayer can any of u americans tell me if this is true." Nope, It has a ranking of how well you do but unfortunantly no no multiplayer at all.
I didn't like it at first because it was hard but I have been leveling up before I try to beat it this time and its awesome. This is a must have game I think anyways.
its not out in australia yet but on the back of the dummy boxes in stores it says it has 2-10 player co op and 64 player multiplayer can any of u americans tell me if this is true.
I wish they'd replace all the stupid political ads with Dead Rising tv ads. But the internet Dead Rising ads are obnoxious, with those stupid silhouettes, I expect the zombies to be wearing a little white box with wires to their ears like the I-Pod commercials.
This is an excellent game. It can be frustrating, and it is difficult, but it is rewarding and you will have a lot of fun playing it. Frankly, Mechakucha does not know what hes is talking about. If you want to play a challenging and well-designed game, buy Dead Rising. I've bought the game, not just played some demo, so I actually know what I'm talking about.
It's sold out in every store Ive been to that had a 360 section, I'm glad I already have it, otherwise I would have had a very hard time finding a copy here in Amsterdam.
Dead Rising is one of my favorite games of all time. My friend actually forced me to buy it, because he said it was his favorite game ever. Thankfully, I listened to him...Dead Rising is AWESOME. I highly recommened that everyone get this game; it is AWESOME!!!
@ninja_gnoblar: Sorry, I didn't mention that I did in fact end up renting it, just not buying it. It should be in my GT. I stand by my "It's not worth $60" statement. All of you on the fence, rent it or wait for a price drop.
to all the chumps complaining about the "boring" gameplay - the demo does not do it justice. I was on the band wagon of folks thinking this title's appeal will last only a couple of hours. Thankfully I was wrong, and must say it's one of my favorite zombie-infested games to date. Considering the setting is something as silly as a mall, and has a pokey-fun vibe ala Shawn of the Dead - this entry in the zombie fest is a well crafted one. Great cutscenes and VO work, and challenging and fun gameplay this is a 360 must. Who would have thought trying to survive a week (game days) straight with no saves could be so --- addicitng!
The comment section just shows a lot of gamers do not have taste in games... I am glad capcom is pushing this game, it is a great game, and it appeals to both the casual, and hardcore gamer markets.
Yeah, the demo (like Prey's) showed me this game was a renter, and NOT worth even close to $60. Maybe $40 at MOST (Prey was like $30). Just cause the graphics are nicer doesn't justify a $60 price tag (yes I know they cost more to make, but graphics aren't a substitute for boring poorly designed gameplay. What was up with that save system?).
Who needs advertisment when you can download the demo on XBox Live and judge by yourself if the game is great or not. For me, the demo show me how boring the gameplay was. So, I did not buy it.
You people ever wonder why you dont see them? BEcause you watch stupid nerdy crap It said they are shown on ESPN, MTV, Spike tv, comedy central, and fox i see them all the time
...There was an original ad campaign? Well, I did get that game day 1 and spent most all my free time on it until I beat it 100%, so I suppose I can finally see those ads now.
Gotta hear from it first somewhere. Not every gamer is an internet uber-nerd who knows about every game a year before it comes out.
"I'd like to see this game become a million seller. If Bulletproof can do it, there's no reason this game shouldn't." The only reason Bullet Proof sold so well is because it had 50 Cent on it.
yeah commercials...hmmm...if people haven't bought it yet, commercials aren't going to persuade them to do it now
I'd like to see this game become a million seller. If Bulletproof can do it, there's no reason this game shouldn't.
And then, suddenly-without warning...every Gamespot user became experts in marketing! KA-POW!! Hahahahah!! So very true... that's what I love about the net; everybody talking, nobody listening.
Good point JamesJPhelanIV. They should have used some of those resources to enhance the text issue. I have to sit way too close to be able to read the text.
I havent seen any adverts for this in the UK but to be honest i havent really seen many adverts for the 360.
okay the game is great, but I think anyone who wanted it has it by now so it's somewhat of a stupid move.
Or in other words, Capcom has$3 million dollars worth of confidence in the game and in the platform.
Not more of the crap commercials. I'm already sick of seeing them and I'm a casual Tv viewer (dvds are my friend).
Capcom should be careful. Spending more $$$ on ads doesn't mean sales will go higher than it already has.Everybody who's the least bit interested about the game probably already has it,spending 3 mil more ain't gonna get Capcom 500k more copies sold... They should use the money on content and depend on word of mouth instead of shoving their products down the throats of people...
Why not use the money to patch the Text issue! I am thinking of returning the game because the text is too small when speaking with other characters.
Why not use the money and make the game a bit cheaper. A good, inexpensive game always sells. You don't need an ad when word of mouth will sell the product.
