Capcom announces Sengoku Basara HD Collection

A collection of three Sengoku Basara games will be out this August in Japan.

Fans of Capcom's Devil Kings and Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes can look forward to reliving the past iterations of the franchise with the Sengoku Basara HD Collection for the PS3, announced this week by the publisher in Japanese magazine Famitsu (via Andriasang).

A piece of the chaos from the last Sengoku Basara game.

The collection, which contains Sengoku Basara (Devil Kings in the US), Sengoku Basara 2, and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes, will be on Japan shelves on August 30. As expected from past HD collections from Capcom, the game will have updated high-resolution graphics. Sengoku Basara 2 and Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes were never released outside of Japan.

In addition, the collection will include an audio CD featuring the voices of the generals from a past Capcom contest involving the Japanese launch of Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes.

They really need to stop making these crappy "new ip's" and get to bring back a bigger and better Breath of Fire! Damn you Capcom for shelving one of the greatest RPG series ever (forget the BoFV mistake, we will all forgive you if you make BoF right...)

Never heard of this game before *looks at Gamespot's review of Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes and see's that it looks just like Dynasty Warriors* It's ok Capcom you can keep your crappy excuse for a game in Japan.

Too bad, WE won't see it overseas... as usual...

Wasn't this announced last year?

Pretty sure it was.  Not that we'll ever see it.  Shame, SB Samurai Heroes is one of the most criminally overlooked titles to come out this gen.

I bought Devil Kings two months ago brand new for $9.99 at Burlington Coat Factory.  I hate how Capcom always finds ways to sell you the same games again for more money.

So why not a worldwide release?  You're going to re-release games that were only available in Japan to the Japanese market?  Oh, wait, I forgot.  This is Capcom.  We'll get yet another Resident Evil game instead.

@strayfies Not that I want the game, but your comment was awesome! Unfortunately, I could almost get away completely w/ saying most game co.s/studios/devs today seem to do things in total 180 of what the consumers, or at least, the fans, want.

They're not being stingy. This is perfectly reasonable. These are 5 year old PS2-exclusive games. These were never released on PC back then, and there were never plans to release them on PC. As far as I know none of the other HD collections from Capcom (or any other company for that matter) have been released on PC either. Why would you have assumed this one would?

@NettoSatio it seems the games never released out of Japan, this hd collection is japan only so I think it be Japan only as well.

@kohle36 Dear Kohle36, this does not the glaring issue, just importing does not help get the game over here, regardless if the game can be played easily enough, the problem here is we shouldn't HAVE to, and the only way is for game companies to grow a pair and start supporting the consumer and the fans.Signed a guy sick of hearing people casually forget something so simple and tired of game companies being lazy or cheap, to the point we have to resort to something that should be a LAST resort to get a good game.

@zzamaro Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes released outside of Japan. It is the latest in the series, and plays very akin to Dynasty Warriors, with a few differences. Fun if you're into that kind of game. Does get a bit mashy at times, but the animation is pretty good and some of the characters are entertaining.
