Call of Duty stream marathoners raise $20,000 for veterans

It has been less than one week since Call of Duty: Ghosts' release, and already the game and its players are up to something positive. A team of five streamers competing in an event surrounding the game's release called The Race have raised over $20,000 to support United States military veterans.

Players TmarTn, iiJERiiCHOii, MrErnestLe, MuzzaFuzza and GoldGlove have been playing and streaming the new Activision title since it was released last Tuesday. All money earned, both from commercials on stream and donations, have gone towards the Call of Duty Endowment.

Dan Goldenberg, Executive Director for the endowment, explained how the endowment helps Veterans find jobs:

"Veterans sacrifice a lot for our security, but they also get great experience and training while they serve in the military. So it’s crazy that when young vets finish their service, they’re 70-80% more likely to be out of work than non-vets. The Endowment has funded the placement of over 1,500 vets so far and we want to bring that total to 25,000 over the next 5 years."

The Race should continue for the next several days as gamers reach the tenth, and final prestige, in the game. The Race can be watched on the gang's official Twitch.tv stream and donations can be made on their website.
