Call of Duty: Ghosts trailer shows space warfare

New campaign trailer for Infinity Ward's upcoming game suggests story will take players to space.

A new campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts released today suggests that the upcoming Infinity Ward-developed game will have a sequence set in outer space.

In the early moments of the trailer (below), a squad of United States soldiers are shown escaping the fiery collapse of a space vessel and firing on unknown enemies.

It is not clear if Call of Duty: Ghosts will also have multiplayer scenarios set in space.

Activision registered a trademark for Call of Duty: Space Warfare in 2010 but abandoned the trademark last month.

Call of Duty: Ghosts launches on November 5 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U. The game is a launch title for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, releasing in North America on November 15 and November 22, respectively.

It is on track to be the most preordered game of 2013, according to retailer GameStop.
