Call of Duty: Ghosts preorder bonus is destructible Free Fall map

New Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer map is set on a falling skyscraper that changes as the match progresses.

Customers who preorder Call of Duty: Ghosts will get access to the multiplayer map Free Fall, Activision has announced.

The offer will be running at "participating retailers" in the US, says Activision. UK customers will have to preorder from GAME, while customers in Ireland interested in getting the map will need to head to GameStop.

Free Fall takes place on a skyscraper that is collapsing during the match, with the layout of the close-quarters map shifting as the match progresses. Ghosts developer Infinity Ward is hoping this element of the game, which it calls "dynamic map events," will keep people interested in Call of Duty's multiplayer this year.

"With every drop, shock waves cause further destruction, altering paths and chokepoints and causing the map to change in real time," says Activision.

A toppling skyscraper was also one of the key elements of DICE's recent multiplayer reveal for rival shooter Battlefield 4.

Last year Activision and Treyarch offered Nuketown 2025 as a preorder bonus for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and caused upset with some users after the map was removed from the game's playlists shortly after launch.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released for current-gen platforms on November 5. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game will also be released this year.

Stuff that should be bundled with the game anyway because it shows off their neat work and improves the game's quality. Nope, just dangle it as an incentive instead.

Well it's scripted and it's "dynamic". I really don't think the word "destructible" would be the right phrase to use in the title of this article because it implies that the player can freely destroy portions of the map at will, which clearly isn't the case. Sounds like a cool twist on the traditional COD multiplayer though, interested to see how it turns out in game.

COD W@W and CODBO1 were good. After that they all start to suck. And why is infinity Ward so afraid of gore in their FPS games about war? If Ghosts has a long Campaign with gore effects, maybe I will buy it used.

I remember the days the world loved Call of Duty, then they were lazy and didnt keep up with the other games and now they are so far behind

Besides changing map, maybe the players will fall to the ground? Anyways, they need to step up and show how the physics in the new game will work, so not a gameplay video, but a video showcasing their so called "new engine" capabilites, just like Battlefield 4 (with it's falling skyscraper)

*not a BF or COD fan, just an observer*

So you get a BF map? I might try it... This whole COD next-gen seems to fall pretty flat, i'm hoping for to see a lot more people on the Battlefield...

Would the fish move out of the way when it falls in a body of water? They should have mention that as well. Oh, maybe they are saving that best tech for last.

Just a feeling here but they may have been better off not telling us about this lol it just reminds us what you can't do in the game.

WOW!!! Welcome late to the Party COD. Battlefield has been doing any amount of destruction for oh let me count 13 games since 2002. and actually collapsing of buildings in 3 games since 2008. But oh wait this isn't actual destruction still because its not player controlled. FAIL!!!!!! guess this COD is yet again another COD that I won't be buying. Shame I was actually wanting to give COD another Chance. Guess not!!!!!

So this map doesn't feature any actual destruction physics.

Why are Battlefield fans always commenting on pages about Call of Duty? Come to think of it, why are Battlefield fans always playing Call of Duty!?

@GODLIKE456 Sucks that COD is probably one of the only games that wont give you all their DLC in a pack.

@Rattlesnake_8 How is Cod copying Battlefield. Just because there is a Skyscraper falling does not mean its copying. That's like saying if a game has guns in it, it's copying CoD. Plus CoD came out first anyway.

Nobody_1234567

@Link3301So... if you don't play CoD, why are you reading about CoD ghosts? -_-

iMustBeAFanBoy
iMustBeAFanBoy

@Link3301 @iMustBeAFanBoy Maybe, but you can't deny the first part. I just find it strange that there seem to be more battlefield fans on pages about CoD than CoD fans. I mean if u dont like the game y are u here, u know? lol

@Nobody_1234567 @Rattlesnake_8

Yeah battlefield has been specializing in online warfare since 1942(2002) long before Cod hit the "online warfare"  scene although calling cod online warfare is a laugh considering its 8 vs 8 and theres not vehicles or blowing things up. at this point bf makes cod look like childs play and that's exactly what it is. I hope all these little cod kiddies don't move over to bf and ruin the strategy aspect of the game with their mindless running and gunning.

quidditch3
quidditch3

@Nobody_1234567 @Rattlesnake_8 Wrong COD first came out in 2003 and Battlefield 1942 came out in 2002 and thats not including Codename Eagle which started it all in 1999. Know you gaming history before you post.

iMustBeAFanBoy

@quidditch3 @Nobody_1234567 MW3 sold more its first day than BF3 did in its first week. Even if every single purchase was made by a 3 year old fetus it still out sold it. So as a company designed to make money selling video games, i don't quite see how they are failing.

iMustBeAFanBoy
iMustBeAFanBoy

@djpetitte I think you're missing the point of video games. I hope all these Battlefield fan boys don't move over to CoD and ruin therunning and gunning aspect of the game with their boring non existent strategic play.
