Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC casts you as fictional serial killer Michael Myers

Players can don the mask of Halloween's iconic slasher for Onslaught DLC and mow down enemies with an axe.

by

In one upcoming map for Call of Duty: Ghosts, called "Fog," you'll be able to don the mask of iconic horror character Michael Myers from Halloween and murder your combatants with an axe, Activision announced today.

Players who are able to find and complete a special Field Order will become Myers. In addition, the entire soundscape will shift to the Halloween theme so players will know danger is close.

The Fog map is set alongside the banks of a spooky lake and Activision says every area on the map is a "chilling homage" to classic horror films.

The Onslaught DLC for Call of Duty: Ghosts launches on January 28 first on Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Four other multiplayer maps (Bayview, Containment, and Ignition) as well as Nightfall, the first of four new episodes for the game's Extinction mode, are also included with the DLC.

Finally, a new weapon called "Maverick" also comes with Onslaught. It is an assault rifle/sniper rifle hybrid outfitted with a wood stock. For more on Onslaught, check out the video below.

Activision you are so pathetic failure. All of this kind of fun customized characters could be received free back in the day with games like Unreal Tournament, beacuse THEY ALLOWED PEOPLE TO MOD THE GAME WITH DEVELOPER-LEVEL TOOLS FOR FREE. You keep milking every possible thing you can imagine.

It'd be cool if you would get milked in prison..

How can they think that the iconic Michael Myers' iconic weapon is an axe? In all the 10 Halloween movies I've seen, he most commonly butchers with a kitchen knife. Weird.

This is exactly the kind of synergy a gaming franchise can use and make things a tad fresh. Instead of a care package delivering maniac armor, you'll be Michael Myers, and I'm guessing you'll be about as powerful. It's just a fun thing to freshen things up. Sounds fun.

I'll be the next to call this stupid. As an avid horror fan I think there is just plain no good reason for Micheal Meyers to be in a first person shooter game. It's illogical and as much as I usually like silly Easter eggs. This is plain dumb.

Some of these comments are absolutely ridiculous.
The point of Micheal Myers appearing in this map is for him to serve the purpose of being an Easter egg.
The map is not intended to be centered around him nor is it intended to be lore friendly to the Halloween franchise.
The fact that people are legitimately complaining that a horror character is appearing in a video game, this particular video game, really shows the moronic mindset of overly biased self proclaimed critics.
No one, in comparison, complained when Freddy Kreuger not only appeared in Mortal Kombat 9 as a playable character but also appeared with a second set of claws.
So why is it such an issue for Micheal Myers to be appearing in CoD: Ghosts?
This just goes to show that some people against COD will bitch and moan about any and every direction that CoD franchise takes.

This seems kind of cool but then again it's Call of Duty. I do think Jason would've been a much better choice.

Is the most random (and stupid) thing ever in CoD? Quite possibly.

I mean, it's not even farking Halloween or anything.

This to me makes the possibility of Activision putting their Crash ownership to use in CoD all the more likely.

I assume Mikey will have uber-juggernaut or some other health enhancing bonus to balance out his lack of projectile weapons.

The DLC should of been lowered or be free to this point since the series mints $1 billion every year.

But it's not in the game you paid 60$ for and it's a DLC? How stupid :(

starcrafthenry

I don't see the problem with this. Hasn't Freddy Krueger been in zombies mode before? Sure zombies is done by Treyarch not Infinity Ward, but it opened the doors for things like this to happen in the future.

My only real problem with this and CoD DLC is that it won't be on the Wii U. For whatever reason, Activision refuses to support the eShop.

P.S. I'm not a big fan of CoD, but just because I don't like it, doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. Not everbody likes the same things, and that's ok.

I have tried several times to play COD in non bias way, but the game is just to bland for it's own good. It's just a basic shooter, with unbalanced multiplayer through that of overpowered weapons to dominate the match.

could have been Chucky… he's so much faster than Michael or Jason…

When they started adding in zombie modes I'd already decided it was just stupid at that point. Then came aliens and now horror movie characters. Sure, he's one of the greats but still, horror movie characters in a supposedly "realistic" war game. Or at least that was what it used to be going for.

Because if anyone knows about bad rehashes, it's Michael Myers. This should be a seamless transition.

This is the stupidest idea ever.  I stopped buying Treyarch CODs after BO1, and now I am done buying Infinity Ward CODs too.  The game is practically a shell of it's former self, and is now teetering on absurdity with extinction mode, and now this.  I haven't played the multiplayer of Ghosts yet, but it sounds to me like this will just be like the killstreak bonus that allows you to run around and knife people, only you will look like Myers.  That is pretty lame.  And what is with the paintball mask in the video still above?  Have the developers lost their freakin minds or what?

If only Myers could kill this franchise.

Very cool. Can't wait to put on the mask LOL

Did Infinity Ward get this idea from Swiftor(Youtuber and Twitch streamer)? Swiftor play's CoD an has this game called Michael Myers, a player is mike and has to kill the other players with a knife, only the last one standing can kill Mike.

Damn...as a huge fan of the Halloween franchise, I actually like this...

COD is the worst for me.

I actually forgot about it for quite sometime now.

Fortunately, it’s fading away slowly but surely.

Zombies...ok, fair enough..approaching the shark. Aliens....ok...getting weird, going up the ramp. Mike Myers....jumping the shark.

I remember that people would hold private matches in earlier CoD games(before 7) where they played this.

as a horror fan, this is dumb....michael myers is from the burbs not a lake front home, two he doesnt have an axe although he was "killed by one" and has used one on a rare occasion....and whats with cod ???first you can turn your dog into an OP wolf and now you can be  michael myers aka a jason wannabe apparently ? these cod devs really dont have anything left in the tank

I stopped playing this crap when they started catering for the ones who are not even older enough to play the game.

I have to admit, this sounds incredibly awesome.

Though A) it would be better if it was Jason Vorhees, and B) the setting and weapon allude to it being Friday the 13th so it SHOULD be Jason..

Still stupid. Everyone get Team Fortress 2! That's all you need for online fps and it's updates are free and the game itself.

@arcangelgold It has been an unofficial game mode for years. This is a nod to CoD's past. Now if only they would make an official game mode for it using the costume.

@pawpomb I hated the fact that Freddy had two sets of claws. I also hated that it was the remake Freddy and not Robert Englund's classic, iconic portrayal.

This CoD news, however, I love. I'm glad I bought the season pass.

@Fursnake Search for "call of duty game mode Michael Myers" and you'll understand.

@starcrafthenry COD has become a way for Activision to make over 1 billion dollars every year. Thats why the game will never get a new engine, gets a new release every year and doesnt have DLC on Wii U. I will be curious to see if COD can survive the jump to next gen without making a new engine.

Dudeman315

@amaneuveringIntrestingly I only own COD for Zombie and would just buy that (with all the DLC Maps and Single player completable Easter Eggs) as a Standalone game.

@Harbinger_CR Are you actually fucking kidding? Mike Myers (The gamemode) was originally created in the days when Infinity Ward's best CoD came out: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - CoD 4. It was made up by a group of friends years ago and it became a fun game to play with buddies. Swiftor didn't create this game, they didn't bring him into Ghosts because of Swiftor. Infinity Ward knew about this game type years ago, it's not like IW PR department went around watching Swifty's video's for ideas.

AuronAXE

@Harbinger_CR Probably, Activision has an enormous PR team that monitors most online activities related to their series, same with most game devs. Maybe he'll get credit.

@haze0986Michael Myers > Jason Voorhees
And Halloween came out before Friday the 13th.

Twiztid-Maddox
Twiztid-Maddox

@haze0986 If you were such a "horror fan" you'd realize Halloween came out in 1978 and Jason Voorhees didn't even hit the horror scene until 1981 when Friday the 13th Part 2 came out, so if anything Jason Voorhees is a Michael Myers wannabe!

@Canadian_Benji team fortress 2 is awful and has created a terrible community full of autists and bronys

Fursnake

@GinsuVictim@Fursnake

I bit and it resulted in nothing. Still stupid and random and the more I read about it the dumber it sounds. They couldn't even get the setting or the weapon right for the character. He has an ax? Micheal Myers is associated with an knife, not an ax. An abandoned cabin? That is for Jason, not Micheal Myers. It sounds like they wanted to get Jason, but ended up with Micheal Myers.

Wait, why do I even care anymore? I must be stupidly bored lol.

R3NeGaDeAnGeL
R3NeGaDeAnGeL

@Twiztid-Maddox@haze0986 I think Haze is suggesting that he has Jason Voorhees characteristics due to the fact that hes rocking an axe and the map is near a creepy lake, not due to the time period of things

Divisionbell
Divisionbell

Exactly. Seems silly to my have jason in this setting. There are suburban maps that would make sense for Michael. Why not so a horror themed dlc and do a different character for each setting.

Either way I'm kinda curious about this.
