"Call Me Maybe" released in February and is currently the 17th most watched video YouTube with over 340 million views.

Harmonix also announced today that the peripheral-free Rock Band Blitz has been discounted through Xbox Live. The game will retail for 600 Microsoft Points, or $7.50, through November 26. This is markdown of 50 percent from the game's original $15 price tag at launch in August.

As much as I enjoyed playing "Call Me Maybe", why does this get an article, but Aerosmith pack they released today apparently doesn't exist?

They usually put out on average 3 songs every single week, excluding the community generated RB Network content... and once every 30-40 songs or so a pop song or pack like this will come out to mix things up...

I assume it's on Gamespot newsbecause Harmonix are trying to sell copies of Blitz and they think that CRJ coming as DLC might help them do that. I say good luck to them. They've provided their community with regular content that keep most people happy (at least once a month something comes out to get me excited), and reducing the price of their newest game alongside the release of this DLC will hopefully get them a few sales from a market that never looked at the game previously :D

Today's "hit" music is so pathetic. Whenever I'm driving an l accidently tune thru the pop station and hear all this stupid crap like Justin Beiber, Nicki Manji, it makes me thank god that I grew up in the 90s, as even back then pop singers actually were way more talented.

They should actually pay people to buy this song instead.

Why? This is Rock Band. "Sex and Candy" is an incredible song, "Call Me Maybe" panders to clueless tweens and feeds on their's and even younger children's naivety. Corporate schemes.

Here's an idea, forget this fucking garbage and instead make a rock band with actual rock songs.

Hard to believe she's 27. With a face like that I figured she was in her late teens-early 20's...

Are you shitting me with this? This crap song now belongs in a game called ROCK BAND?!?! I can't fucking believe this...

Why even add any of today's mainstream music? All you hear is shitty pop about stuff we couldn't possibly give a shit about. Whatever happened to instrumentals? Meaningful lyrics, with underlying messages and powerful symbolism?

Nowadays, only "Carry On" by Fun caught my attention. I'm not a fan of the band, I find their last two singles to be annoying, but "Carry On" is simply brilliant. The lyrics are meaningful and powerful, the instrumentals give such a life to the song and the singer sounds like he gives a shit. I was stunned when I listened to it. Why can't that song be in Rock Band? I just can't believe how stupid this is...

What are you gonna add next? Nicki Minaj, or fucking Ke$ha?!?

Stop trying, Harmonix. Nothing will make up for you losing the license on Gangnam Style. How could you!?! ... :(

I think the big thing people are missing about this is that it's a joke song. It's pointless bring up the "but it's ROCK band" thing now because there's already plenty of other songs available that aren't rock. Rock Band 3 even had some on-disc.

How?! HOW DID THIS SONG GETS ON ROCK BANDS! It's ALL syntetics :O WTH!

How can you rock out to that song? I would expect it to be in Singstar, but not Rock Band.

I must be missing something here.

I think the point of this article is the irony of having a pre-fab pop song in a game involving instruments. Maybe.

So a certain song is coming to Rockband? Why is it necessary to make an article?

Call Me Maybe doesn't even have a guitar or any actual instruments for that matter. Hmm.

Tauu

When I hear a pop song my ears literally hurt. It's not natural at all. Nothing will ever be superior to a band of highly talented musicians playing real instruments.

Today's music is just repulsive. Like, how does this garbage become so successful? How is that millions of dollars are thrown at these "artists". It's mindblowing. This song doesn't even fit Rock Band. What instruments are being used in Call Me Maybe?

@Amster_G Keys and violin primarily, with some guitar. But rock bands have been using violins for a long time...Kansas, Styx, KISS, even the Beatles. However, this song is bad. But still a far sight better than the Miley Cyrus DLC they added last year.

While I agree with part of your statement, ..."the irony of having a pre-fab pop song in a game involving instruments.", I don't really think that was the point of the article.  It seemed like a pretty clear cut, no non-sense written piece.  Probably should have been a bit more sarcastic if they were going for irony.  But that's just me.... maybe I'm wrong.  ;)
