Build Your Own Custom Secret Base in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

Players can customise their secret base with traps, mazes, and make secret pals.

Pokemon fans will be able to create their very own secret base in the upcoming Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games, the Pokemon Company announced today.

Players will be able to customise their bases, setting up mazes or traps for visitors in addition to setting their own Pokemon battle rules. This option effectively turns a secret base into a Pokemon Gym.

Secret bases will be sharable using the StreetPass feature. Alternatively, players can create a QR code for their secret base to share with friends. Upon visiting the secret base of another player, players can meet other trainers and invite them back to their own secret base as a secret pal.

Unlocking secret pals grants the ability to interact and battle with them and access their special skills. This includes sharing new decorations, speeding up the hatching of a Pokemon Egg, or levelling up a chosen Pokemon. Collecting more secret pals enables the use of more special skills.

Additionally, players will also be able to capture flags while in other players' secret bases. Flags will be located beside the secret PC in each base, and more flags collected grant a higher rank. Higher ranks improve the skills of secret pals.

Nintendo announced Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in May. They are remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, but have been described as "fresh takes" on the originals. The games are scheduled for release on November 21 for the 3DS.

I'm hoping Mega Evolutions continue for low/ mid tier fully evolved creatures. It's the place this feature strives at in my view.

Mawile was pointless in competitive multiplayer till now is a perfect example.

If all goes well, continue with balancing out as many as possible.

Besides legends am I the only one getting sick of fighting Lucario, Tyranitar and Garchomp online all the time >_>

719! And it's these always used more than anything. Sheesh.

So they add a meaning in the Secret bases that already existed in Ruby/Sapphire/emerald

What if your secret pal ends up being like Dexter and his secret base is like Hostel from which you will never return?

This is a gigantic improvement to the originals were these places were pretty much pointless. I was hoping that the o-powers from Y&X will be in the remakes but it looks like those will be replaced with those secret-pal abilities.

I kinda neglected the base in the original game cause I can decorate sure but I can't do a thing to those items. this looks gimmicky but  still a welcomed addition

Damn I loved secret bases when I was a kid, always used to like making my base in those big trees. Glad to see they're returning, much preferred them to the underground bases in Sinnoh

Dear nintendo, could you please make an open world 3d pokemon game. Where pokemon run freely instead of being hidden in the grass. Sincerely, every pokemon fan.

@boesyboy Maybe you should try out the Pixelmon mod for Minecraft in the meantime. It's a bit buggy and the graphics are awful, but gameplay-wise it's exactly what you're describing.

@jessie82 I did enjoy the underground feature, I guess most people just didn't have a group of friends to play in the underground with. The chaos... Ohhh the chaos..

@jessie82 This was in the original Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald too, but they are found in the normal world instead of the underground like in Platinum.

@mark_1313_13  But mammals *can* lay eggs, so a large number of Pokémon, if not most of them, are already (probably) mammals.  Don't discriminate against the monotremes!

@Chico86_basic It does sound pretty cool, and I'm not even a hardcore Pokemon fan.  X was my first entry into the world of Pokemon, several months ago, and I have to say I was surprised by how much I enjoy it.

Y not?, an open world with pokemon running loose waiting for you to capture them. And then ditch the turn based combat for an system a la Ni no kuni. Day one pursache for sure. But maybe its just me.
