Activision's latest space combat sim, Star Trek Bridge Commander, has begun shipping to retailers, according to a company representative. The game was created by Larry Holland's Totally Games, the California-based studio best known for developing the Star Wars: X-Wing and TIE Fighter series.

In the game, players command a Galaxy-class starship on a quest to discover the cause of a mysterious solar eruption. During the course of their journey, players will interact with several alien races, including the Romulans, the Klingons, and the Cardassians. Star Trek Bridge Commander will soon be available in stores for an approximate retail price of $49.99. For more information, take a look at our in-depth previews of the game. We'll post a full review of the game soon.
