With its so-called all-new The Beatles: Rock Band due this September, Harmonix has said it does not plan to bring a proper sequel to its flagship rhythm game Rock Band to market this year. That doesn't mean that the studio won't be lining retailers' shelves with a new Rock Band-branded product, however. Today, MTV Games, EA, and Harmonix announced that Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock will arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Wii on May 19.

Here's how it was done in the '70s.
Here's how it was done in the '70s.

The Classic Rock track pack contains 20 retro tunes previously released as weekly downloadable content. Highlights from the $29.99 stand-alone product include Boston's "Peace of Mind," Rush's "Closer to the Heart," Steve Miller Band's "The Joker," and The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes."

According to MTV Games, Classic Rock track pack tunes can be downloaded to users' Xbox 360 or PS3 hard drives so that they can be played through Rock Band's or Rock Band 2's interface. However, unlike similar functionality for transferring nonmetal Rock Band songs to Rock Band 2, the process will be free of charge.
