Borderlands Writer Mikey Neumann Giving Keynote at PAX Prime

13-year Gearbox veteran to give "Storytime" address at this summer's event; music lineup for the show revealed.

Borderlands developer Gearbox Software "chief creative champion" Mikey Neumann will give the keynote address--the "Storytime Session"--at this summer's PAX Prime, event organizers have announced. Neumann has worked at Gearbox for more than 13 years, doing writing work for major franchises like Brothers in Arms and Borderlands, among others.

Last year's keynote speaker at PAX Prime was former Microsoft creative executive Peter Molyneux, who left the company to start an indie studio in March 2012.

PAX organizers have also announced the music lineup for PAX Prime. Friday night's concerts will be Triforce Quartet, The Doubleclicks, and Paul & Storm, while a "special live event" will be held on Saturday. On Sunday, the music lineup includes MC Frontalot, Bit Brigade, and 7bit Hero.

PAX Prime takes place in Seattle, Washington August 29-September 1. The show is completely sold out.

Before anyone else says something stupid.

Every year at PAX Prime someone tells a story. Not about a game, not about a franchise, not so much about a company as it is something that is supposed to be meaningful and relate to the gaming industry as a whole.

That said Mikey told a compelling story about his childhood and compared it to the toxic attitudes between people who play video games. The end of it all, it focused on the stupid phrase "you're not a real gamer" which technically means "you're not having fun right."

Go and watch his story/speech.

Borderlands has a weak narrative, both of them, but a brilliant and hilarious characterization and dialogue show that the man has talent.

BiA is also the most fleshed out and deep WWII series I have seen to date. The latest game had its share of emotional, memorable moments that made it stand out from the pack.

@Adam802 Hey, quit insulting the crappy Aliens games. It's the best game out there for wii U.

@pork7 @Adam802 i dont even think it came to the wii u.  the wii u version was cancelled bc the game just sucked so bad in general.

And then GBX just completely ignores the game and pretends like it never happened. assholes.
