Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel arrived on Tuesday, bringing with it four new playable characters, including series mainstay Claptrap. A fifth character now exists in the game's code following an update, according to one modder who claims to have discovered what will become a DLC character in the future.

User TechnoJacker posted the image above on the Se7enSins forums (via IGN), showing off a new character by the name of Baroness. She is reportedly included in the latest beta update for the PC version of the game on Steam, but not in a way meant to reveal her to players.

"The files and data for her is included in the next Borderlands Pre-Sequel update which is available on Steam if you subscribe to the beta channel," TechnoJacker writes. "While hidden until you purchase the DLC, it's possible to force the game to play as her with some tinkering."

Just what kind of tinkering is involved hasn't yet been detailed by TechnoJacker, nor has he or she shared any details on what kind of character Baroness is.

We've contacted 2K to see if it will confirm the legitimacy of TechnoJacker's discoveries and will report back with anything we learn.

We do know more characters are on the way for The Pre-Sequel; at least four DLC packs are planned which will add "more characters, challenges, and missions." These packs will be available individually or as part of a $30 season pass.
