The Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel game update that launched Tuesday alongside the release of the title's latest DLC, The Lady Hammerlock Pack, is causing crashes for some users.

Developer Gearbox Software explains that when the update is applied, "putting three items of purple rarity into the Grinder has the potential to cause a crash."

Gearbox is "hard at work at addressing this issue as quickly as possible," the developer explained.

Until then, however, Gearbox recommended that The Pre-Sequel players "use the Grinder at their own risk." In addition, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players can refuse the update, though doing so means they can't play online or access the new Lady Hammerlock expansion.

PC players on Steam, meanwhile, can put Steam into Offline Mode to steer clear of the buggy update.

Gearbox pledged to share more details about a permanent resolution to the issue "as soon as we have it confirmed."

The Lady Hammerlock Pack includes a new playablel character, Lady Aurelia the Baroness, who is the older sister of Sir Hammerlock from Borderlands 2. She comes with a new weapon, a sniper rifle, and a new action skill called Cold as Ice, among other things. The DLC is included with The Pre-Sequel's $30 DLC pass or it can be purchased separately for $10.

An updated version of The Pre-Sequel is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in March through The Handsome Collection, a new bundle that also includes a remastered edition of Borderlands 2.
