Borderlands 2 PS Vita Update Addresses Player Feedback

Update 1.04 fixes control and performance issues.

Update 1.04 for the PlayStation Vita version of Borderlands 2 is out now, Sony has announced. It aims to improve “the overall Borderlands 2 PS Vita experience” by addressing feedback from players.

Most importantly, Sony has worked with developer Iron Galaxy Studios to improve the game’s stability and performance overall, including known issues with audio playback.

For users who found that they inadvertently triggered actions mapped to the PS Vita’s rear touch inputs, you can now find scaling sliders in the Options menu to reduce the inputs areas to much smaller zones. For those of you who play shooters with inverted vertical look, Gyroscopic controls can now also be independently inverted. Finally, Sony has fixed an issue where players weren’t notified that their online session had expired, causing them to incorrectly appear available for multiplayer.

The PS Vita version of Borderlands 2 was released last month, and was also included in a special $200 PS Vita Slim bundle. Borderlands 2 for consoles and PC has shipped 9 million copies since its release in September 2012.

I think the update definitely made the whole game run smoother than before.  The only real thing keeping me from getting completely immersed in the Vita version of this game is the missing dlc.  I want to know that I can level up to 72 and play the TTaodk dlc.  I don't mind the framerate that much, but the way that enemies just disappear is a real bummer to me.  I currently have this on pc and I HAD it on ps plus until my sub ran out.  Just having this game portable is amazing!!!  I hope the support for it keeps up and we eventually get the rest of the game and any needed fixes.  I did not buy this game on day one, but I did have my eye on it for a while.  I love B2.  Theres not that many great games out there on the vita yet, and I am thankful for the patches to fix the game.  Please give us the rest of that dlc!!!

i haven't had any performance issues with the game, i have had the odd screen freeze and am really glad to be able to adjust the size of the rear touchpads it was the only fault i was finding with the game, much better now.

What about the problem users are having where the text hasn't been made larger to compensate for the smaller screen? You know so people don't need a microscope to play the game.

I just started it back up after a few days off and it seems to run better, although it never ran poorly in my opinion.

So developers nowadays release buggy, unfinished and unpolished games and then "patch them later", of course, after they got your money. This is why now I wait several months for "day-1 buyers" to beta-test the product and the game to get actually fixed/finished.

I havent bought this yet but can anyone confirm that this does help out the framerate at all, as thats the only thing holding me back

hopefully they add a patch where Sony adds more first party support for Vita.

Does it fix the two player limit? If not, then I'm still not plopping down the money for your game.

@grbolivar this is all because of hard drives. with out hard drives you would get broken unfinished games or working games that dot need to be patched an use up harddrive space.

The frame rate haven't been a problem for me, one or two hiccups but that's about it in all the two weeks I have been playing it. Even the multiplayer is good. Hope this helps.

LOL. Games are coming, just no major titles, but to be fair, I wouldn't mind more ports like borderlands 2 as I never played it before, but it seems perfect for the handheld, has kept me very busy for the last two weeks.

@elheber i dont see the 2 man online option being raised fullstop, im sure i was reading that they have limited it to two for framerate/performance related reasons...cant see that changing any time soon tbh.

@elheber waste of resources for the 5% that would use it, better controls and framerate all the way.

You can play with friends or any coop player randomly in the online match making screen, in fact this helped me gain two new friends that I now play regularly with on borderlands 2.

@Spartan_418 @elheber Where is this 5% statistic from? 5% of Vita owners have less than two players as friends in their Vita friend list with a copy of Borderlands? Is this stat pre-bundle or post-bundle for the Borderlands/Vita combo?

If this 5% stat is true, would 4-player co-op not be an adoption incentive and raise that same stat significantly?

Two of my nephews and I made a pact to buy the Vita bundle with Borderlands (along with a close cousin of mine who already has the Vita), but we canceled the pact when we discovered the 2-player limit. Only one of them actually went ahead and bought it on impulse, only to return it before opening the box.

Heck, doesn't the Vita have a microphone? If so, what's stopping you from making friends from randoms?
