Boogie SuperStar shakes groove thing on Wii

Electronic Arts' dancing karaoke series returns to Nintendo's console with 40 new songs later this year.

Last year, Electronic Arts took its first major steps into the mass-appeal music genre by teaming with MTV Games for Rock Band and producing its own dancing and singing game for the Wii, DS, and PlayStation 2 in Boogie. After a few months of rest, the publisher is ready to get back out on the dance floor with this week's announcement of Boogie SuperStar for the Wii.

The second installment in the series will bring the same karaoke-and-rug-cutting gameplay to bear on a setlist of 40 new songs from the likes of Rihanna, Fergie, Kanye West, Britney Spears, Maroon 5, Alicia Keys, and Good Charlotte. EA also teased a mystery "chart-topping, global music sensation" who will serve as the game's featured artist.

Boogie SuperStar includes cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes for up to four, as well as character customization options and a story mode. Developed by EA Montreal, the game is set for release this October in North America and Europe, followed shortly by a launch in Asian territories.

It's also gonna raise the 'stereotype' that EA makes crap games. The Orange Box was an EA game and it wasn't crap.

Britney Spears? That's gonna raise the stereotype that Americans listen to garbage.

Why bother for a sequel that no one wanted? How many did the first game sell? Like 13 copies?.... weird.

Hmmm....Make Boogie 2, or simply burn the money? They both have the same outcome.

@ Mr_Popler No, I live in the U.S., and I enjoy some of his songs, specifically "We're The Pet Shop Boys."

the same karaoke-and-rug-cutting gameplay to bear on a setlist of 40 new songs from the likes of Rihanna, Fergie, Kanye West, Britney Spears, Maroon 5, Alicia Keys, and Good Charlotte. For the love of god, why did they add these artists if they want to make a decent game

The "mystery global artist sensation" that would appear in a game like this would likely be Kylie Minogue. Having her as the featured artist would push the game fairly well in Europe and Austrailia. Probably not so much here.

A pure money-grab. The first one wasn't even moderately successful.

Though unlikely, if that mystery artist happened to be Robbie Williams, I'd totally buy this game (is it wrong that I'm his only American fan?).

Clearly developers don't care about the reception their games get, as long as people continue to buy them, they'll continue to make more.

If that 'mystery band' is Tokio Hotel, then I guess the game will be invading my gaming space, thanks to my dear sister...

That has to be the WORST list of bands they could have named to advertise the game...
