Blizzard Reveals "Real Reason" It Canceled Titan in Wacky New Movie Promo

Fox has put out a new promo for its upcoming James Franco/Bryan Cranston movie Why Him?--and it's a weird one. In the film, Franco plays a Silicon Valley billionaire game designer named Laird, who created a game called Ape Assassins. The new video shows a series of real-world gaming executives, including Blizzard's Mike Morhaime, Ubisoft's Aymar Azaizia, and 343's Kiki Wolfkill, talking about Ape Assassins and why it's such an influential and important game.

There are a number of funny lines, including Morhaime talking about how the real reason Blizzard canceled Titan was because its employees were too busy playing Ape Assassins (that's not really the reason). Azaizia jokes that Ape Assassins was a prequel to Assassin's Creed. Check it out:

Ape Assassins is a real game that you can play right now on iOS or Android. You play as the "world's most irate primate," in the run-and-gun shooter. It features the song "Dope Girlz" by Steve Aoki.

The comedy tells the story of Ned (Cranston), who visits his daughter at Stanford and finds out she's dating Laird, a man he thinks is no match for his daughter. A lot of wackiness ensues--check out the latest trailer below.

Why Him? was directed by John Hamburg (I Love You, Man, Along Came Polly), with a story written by Jonah Hill, Hamburg, and Ian Helfer. Shawn Levy (Uncharted, Night at the Museum) and Ben Stiller are producers.

Why Him? opens in theaters on December 23.
