Nival Interactive has recently announced via its official Web site that it has been working on a sequel to Blitzkrieg since January. Like its predecessor, Blitzkrieg II will be a real-time strategy game set during World War II, but with more emphasis on fast-paced gameplay.

Blitzkrieg II is being built using an all-new 3D engine and will feature destructible environments based on locations in Europe, Africa, and the jungle isles of the Pacific. The game will feature four campaigns in total, and players will be able to choose which missions they attempt and which troops to use. Missions in the game will be connected in such a way that completing certain objectives, such as capturing a train station or an airfield, might prove advantageous in a subsequent mission.

Blitzkrieg II will feature hundreds of authentic weapons, infantry units, and vehicles, including aircraft and ships. As they progress through the game, units will gain experience and become more effective--encouraging players to value them during battle. No release date has been announced for Blitzkrieg II at this time, but we'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.
