CDV Software has announced that Blitzkrieg, its next World War II real-time strategy game, is now in the alpha stage of development and is on track for release in the fourth quarter of 2002. The game lets players participate in the battles of World War II in three different campaigns, controlling the units of the Germans, the Russians, or the Allied forces. The game is designed to be historically accurate and realistic.

The company also released some new screenshots from the alpha version of the game, which we've posted in the gallery above. Blitzkrieg is in development at Nival Interactive. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
