Blink 182 playing BlizzCon 2013

SoCal band announced as the music talent for this year's show.

by

Three-piece American rock band Blink 182 will close out BlizzCon 2013 next month, Activision announced today. The show runs November 8-9 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Physical tickets for BlizzCon 2013 are sold out, but fans can purchase a Virtual Ticket for $40 to take in the weekend's panels, events, and the Blink 182 concert.

"Nothing beats touring and playing in front of a live crowd," Blink-182 guitarist and vocalist Tom DeLonge said.

"Our roots are in Southern California, so playing at BlizzCon will be like having a show in our own backyard--only with a couple thousand more orcs and elves in loincloths and bikini armor."

Past BlizzCon music acts included Ozzy Osbourne, The Offspring, Tenacious D, and Foo Fighters, among others.

BlizzCon is an all-things Warcraft, Diablo, and StarCraft fan convention that features panels, tournaments, contests, and hands-on time with upcoming Blizzard games.

Warcraft movie director Duncan Jones will lead a panel during the event discussing the upcoming film based on Blizzard's popular fantasy franchise.

The BlizzCon 2013 schedule also includes the WCS Global Finals for StarCraft II, live play sessions of recently re-revealed MOBA Heroes of the Storm, and a preview of Diablo III expansion Reaper of Souls.

Blink182... Hmm... Is Scott back? He really wasn't a good drummer, decent maybe; but they did put out better crap when he was around...

Hey Blizzard, the 90's called, they want their band back.

LOL at anyone who thinks or thought they are a punk band. Maybe their pre sellout stuff is, I haven't heard any of it but at least they are playing Blizz con which is still pretty cool.

yikes!!!

i thought they were long gone. i guess it works since they were both around for the 90s.

i guess people of that generation will feel nostalgic over it.

they always reminded me of whiny pop rock, i was glad to see that they had become irrelevant in popularity & the music scene, but i guess they still have a fan base.

Blink: 40 year olds playing music made for frat boys listened to by high schoolers.

Nice choice.  They were popular back when Blizzard still made good games.

Fitting partnership as neither have been relevant since the late 90's.

A lot of people on here are too young to even know who Blink182 is.

I'm happy to see all the haters. Blink is one of my favorite bands, and closing act seats are always tough to get.

Can't believe all the Blink hate. They still sell out huge venues, and just headlined a huge festival. Kids need to get in touch

Howli crap, people still want to listen to that crap? Blizzard, I thought you know better!

But on the other hand, radio in GTA5 is not stuff of legends, too.

"I never thought I'd die alone

lol reduced to playing at a venue with a sea of socially inept virgins.  Could be worse...could be some spoiled rich sweet sixteen party. Woo, rock on.

I can just imagine a Blizzard executive meeting

"Hey, we need to make more money"

*random exec picks up stapler* "can we sell this? you know... put our logo on it, give it a trailer... maybe say it's a sequel to diablo or something?"

"... works for me, $40 it is"

$40 for a frickin' e-ticket... remember when conferences were about showing fans reasons why they should buy your goddamn product? and celebrating that a bunch of people ACTUALLY are interested in what you're doing as a company? Now you charge $40 to watch it online like it's a goddamn pay per view.

Blizzard and EA should just join together so I can direct my hatred to these money grubbing parasites to just one company.

@zyxahn are you saying blink 182 and avenged sevenfold are our only options? god truly has abandoned humanity

@komuchen Better be a goddamn classic hard rock or heavy metal in incoming dlc LSRR has some good stuff but it pales in comparison to LCRR or pretty much any past rock station.

@HyperWarlock I completely agree that degrading or trivializing something just to create a facade of intelligence or uniqueness is pathetic and deserves ridicule, but insulting out of genuine resentment or pointing out honestly perceived flaws doesn't make you some pretentious prick, actually both done honestly and within moderation is good for society.

Nothing wrong with believing shit to be shitty or to state that shit is in fact shit.

@Ayato_Kamina_1

It is also available on pay-per-view.  I think it is a good thing.  Not everyone lives in California.  I'd have bought tickets and taken my son if not for the travel expenses.

@uhoh_oreo23 My buddy saw them in Vegas last month! Honestly, I quit WoW a couple months ago and was sort of feeling like Blizzcon wouldn't be as fun as last year, but this has me seriously excited again.
