Montreal-based game developer Vircom has announced that its upcoming online role-playing game, Black Moon Chronicles: Winds of War, will begin beta testing on October 4. The massively multiplayer game is based on the graphic novels of Francois Froideval and Olivier Ledroit, and it features a hand-drawn isometric interface reminiscent of a graphic novel. The game will also feature captions, panels, and speech balloons to complete the effect.

In the game, players travel through a medieval fantasy universe torn by a war between four factions: Light, Empire, Justice, and Black Moon. Each faction has different strengths and weaknesses, and each has a unique set of characters. Players create a character from one of 12 classes, join one of the four factions, and then undertake quests and participate in raids against other factions.

Black Moon Chronicles: Winds of War is in development at Canada-based Vircom, and it is scheduled for release in November in two packages: a full box version that comes with a free six-week subscription for $34.95 and a jewel-case package that includes a free two-week subscription for $9.99.
