NovaLogic today announced that Delta Force: Black Hawk Down for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 has gone gold. The action game, from UK developers Climax (Sudeki, MotoGP 3) and Rebellion (Sniper Elite, Alien Versus Predator) for the Xbox and PS2, respectively, is scheduled for release on July 27. The game is rated T for Teen and will retail for $49.99.
The first-person shooter is a port of the PC version, released in March of 2003. Set during the Operation Restore Hope and Task Force Ranger campaigns in civil-war-torn Somalia in the early 1990s, Black Hawk Down challenges gamers to don the fatigues of the elite Delta Force unit in Mogadishu.
The single-player campaign contains the original 16 missions from the PC version, and it sees gamers both on foot and behind the turrets of historically accurate vehicles. In addition to a cooperative mode, Black Hawk Down will bring some serious firepower to online console gaming. The Xbox version will support a whopping 50 players over Xbox Live, and the PS2 version will be able to handle 32 simultaneous players.
