BioWare seeking Mass Effect 3 multiplayer feedback

Developer asking community to fill out survey to gauge thoughts on layout, difficulty, and atmosphere for Firebase maps.

BioWare has launched a new Mass Effect 3 survey asking the community to weigh in on the game's multiplayer component. The survey gauges feedback regarding layout, difficulty, and overall atmosphere for nineteen Firebase maps.

The survey is open for one week.

Mass Effect 3 was the first entry in BioWare's spacebound role-playing game series to include a multiplayer component after the original Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 were single-player-only affairs.

BioWare last year confirmed it is working on a new Mass Effect game, but has only revealed a handful of vague details about the title, described as "fresh and new."

The untitled game is powered by the Frostbite 3 engine and will not feature original Mass Effect trilogy hero Commander Shepard.

Why bother, Bioware? Just do some more useless internal research. That's the best way to gauge your customer's opinion.

Garbage, thats my feedback. And half the reason I still have not bought it.

MP was gooooood but they need to add stuffs to it and not let us do the same thing over and over other then that it's fine

Sigh... It's sad listening to all these people that have never even played ME3 MP, but still bitch and moan about it, when it was actually very well done, very well supported and also brought new players to the SP side of ME3. But noooo, every 'rpg' fan only harps on and on (and on) about the 'dumbed' down elements, MP affecting SP (even though the SP of ME3 is by far the longest in the trilogy), and a lot of other relatively unnecessary (usually mako related) drivel.

The real problems with ME3 are all story related, the MP was a positive imho and didn't hamper the single player in anyway except readiness, which in itself hardly affects the crapyness of the endings or the actual in game content.

Used the link, it asks for feedback on multiplayer maps not on the multiplayer component. If it had been truly separate and not required for the SP game as first stated it would have been find as it could be ignored. As it reduces the galactic readiness unless it is played the feature penalizes players that don't want it.

Simple... "Un-necessary"

If they don't get it from that then they need help.

Yeah, I bet this is the point where the plot-driven franchise becomes a completely multiplayer based one. Resulting in another series ruined.

Sorry Bioware, but much of your audience is less interested in providing feedback and more interested in making demands. Good luck.

My humble feedback - LEAVE MULTIPLAYER OUT.

I love all the multiplayer references in the Citadel DLC. The two best ones are the turian sentinel that detonates tech shield for all occasions (in the arcade) and the conversation between the human infiltrator woman and the vorcha soldier (between the apartment entrance and the arcade).

The multiplayer is a fun, little distraction.  It's not deep, but I see it as a good time killer.

Feedback? Two thumbs down and a stuck-out tongue.

Feedback? What is a single player RPG developer doing releasing a game that has abandoned 90% of it's RPG elements in favor of feeding the already over-saturated shooter genre and tacking a subpar multiplayer component onto the final game in a trilogy that did amazingly well without it.

Feedback? Mass Effect 4 should drop all notions of having multiplayer and opt for strengthening the single-player experience. If they really want you to play with your friend in this game, enhance squads to 4 instead of 3 and add 2-player co-op where each player has control of 1 additional squadmate.  Co-op campaign in the furthest this series should go.

it should have offline MP too and split-screen kinda like horde mode.. i'm a ps3 user and my friends said horde mode was fun.. plus if it could have been fun saving the galaxy splitscreen (MP/local) but for my feedback it's fun and intense..

Considering how substandard the single player was in me3 it would be a lot more interesting if they focused on that instead of EA desire to constantly "go online" and ruin everything

Lol. That is actually my feedback. Great trilogy, poor multiplayer.

Mass Effect is SICK. Its a SICK market that plays SICK games from BIOWARE. Cant wait to see what SICK games BIOWARE creates for the SICK next gen consoles. :)

This is not my type at all, guess I will stick in Age of Wushu and Neverwinter for the whole month.

Loved the SP/MP and the ending, a great game with a heap free MP dlc's. A few more new MP maps would be great and bring back weekend challenges.

I like the MP in the game, but I wanted Bioware to expand on it.  I would have loved to see them have side stories like Uncharted 3 did with their multiplayer.  Killing waves of enemies is fun in the game and getting new powers as well as unlocking characters is great.  I wanted to see even more modes and not just the ones we have while killing waves of enemies.  The MP in the game is something I can actually play again and again.  I can't say the same for the SP part of the game.

here's my feedback, get rid of it and focus on single player!

CommodoreRaslin

I didn't care for the MP. I wanted an experience similar to the SP gameplay where you and your squad travel through the map while compleing objectives. A circular map where you do nothing but kill respawns that appear out of thin air is a pointless bore. Plus I hate having to deal with all the things ME 3 did wrong such as enemies that can one shot kill you, static health bars, powers that only affect mobs without shields or armor on, powers that share a global cooldown, finite ammo, super weak player shields, having ammo and other equipment pieces be a one time use consumeable.

@batman_is_gaey

I agree with your statement except for the ending.

The ending wasn't crapy but too deep and meaning ( self sacrifice and loss ) for most simplitons to understand and who where excepting typical cliche hero ending.

@TTDog Only the necessities for these games, right? Don't improvise, don't expand, don't try new things. Only do what is completely necessary, and nothing else. Good call, guy.

@Gomtor The multiplayer in ME3 was excellent. I was skeptical going in, but to my surprise, thoroughly enjoyed it. If you don't enjoy multiplayer in a game, just skip past it when navigating menus.

syafiqjabar

@Afonsop Since they were gathering gameplay data for Mass Effect 2. They do this for Dragon Age and ME3 as well. Bioware devs also hang around various message boards (if the Citadel DLC is any indication, other than BSN they also post at Something Awful, where Mass Effect is one of the most popular topics of discussions).

JimmeyBurrows

@Brutal_Gamer97 I definately agree that a co-op multiplayer (story based) woud have been nice in the series.

The hordes got boring after a while.

@Arch-Stanton

I totally agree with you on that. New map DLC would be great and the weekend challenges just stopped?

I never realised they were there, until someone pointed them out to me and just as I was beginning to enjoy trying to beat them... they disappeared?

I am not into multiplayer games much, this one however, I do enjoy a lot.

syafiqjabar

@bigbear032888 A lot of Mass Effect fans actually love the multiplayer. It actually made the single-player play better for them.

TTDog
TTDog

I know... I'm amazed at the number of retards and halfwits who insist on multiplayer in everything... next they'll be asking for co-op in Pacman or the chance to player Metal Gear with a squad of 15 mates.Not one single person ever thought, while playing the well known RPG Mass Effect, "what this RPG needs is a multiplayer arena style shooter" to make it complete.

joesguy
joesguy

@Shantmaster_K @Afonsop I'm inclined to believe otherwise, with day one paid DLC, an MP component that used to be essential for obtaining the "best" ending, non-disclosure of market research (indicating that they're likely lying about the results) and more. That's not caring, that's statutory rape of the mass's wallets.

MinerAvatar
MinerAvatar

@Shantmaster_K @Afonsop Then why do they always do the opposite of what fans want like a MMO Star Wars over KotOR 3, adding MP horde mode to Mass Effect, Dragon Age 2, day one DLC, and that ending mess. Not to mention the outright lies to everyone. So if they are listening it is only to EA and how to milk your wallet, not on how to make their games better.

joesguy
joesguy

@syafiqjabar @Afonsop They like to do internal data gathering, thus it's largely useless. Why do you think the third entry in the series was such a shambles in the narrative department?

Arch-Stanton
Arch-Stanton

@punksterdaddy @Arch-Stanton

Yes the MP co-op works great which I really like , in those other warfare MP games, I feel like I'm canon fodder for ranked up players and camping snipers.

@punksterdaddy @Arch-Stanton @Growgor

Ever since the weekend challenges finnished , the number off kill hogs and crappy players have seem to increase.I,ve given up playing MP for the moment as I,ve finnished all the set challenges, no new maps and no weekend challenges to keep it interesting anymore.

Luckly I'm ranked up enough to let the jerks die and solo the wave or game on my own. Check out my N7 profile "Ink-111"  on PC .(It's set for public view ) .Hope they get some new maps and challenges soon.

punksterdaddy

@Arch-Stanton @Growgor @punksterdaddy

It makes you wish for friendly fire sometimes?lol

Unfortunately more often than not, these "Kill Hogs," are there in almost every map. I play often with a friend and we have both noticed this...

There is ALWAYS one whom thinks he is Rambo, who consistently goes off and leaves the objectives for the other three to do. Then in later waves when fighting a Scion or whatever, he/she will go down. Which will leave us struggling to finish the objective and therefore the wave too...?

These F#ckers really p!ss me off! lol

Growgor

@punksterdaddy @Arch-Stanton

Yes I agree, you do get a few kill hogs in ME3 MP but most players like me just let them die or waste their med gels, especially if their gooffing off on hack and escort missions.

punksterdaddy
punksterdaddy

@Arch-Stanton @punksterdaddy Me too! It puts me right off of playing it.

ME3 however, you are meant to play as a team and do the objectives together. If you are only out for yourself, then you're doomed to failure and everyone gets less for completing the objectives as a result.

This is one of the reasons, why I like ME3 multiplayer. It is a team mission, not just...

  KILL KILL KILL!

Then everybody's scores get totalled up and split four ways... Everybody gets the same. So it's just tough sh!te to all the KILL HOGS out there! lol
