BioShock Infinite Creative Writing Contest

To celebrate the release of BioShock Infinite, we're having a creative writing contest for a chance to win an Elizabeth figure!

Your task is to research Columbia--as well as some of the lore surrounding the world of BioShock--and craft a short story in that setting. Your story should feature characters and events from the game.

To participate, create a blog on GameSpot that contains the following:

- Write a BioShock inspired short story that takes place in the setting of Columbia.
- The story must be a minimum of 500 words in length.
- Include an image to act as a "cover shot" for your entry.
- Have a footnote in your blog entry to indicate that it is for the BioShock Infinite creative writing contest.

Not sure how to write about a game that isn't out yet? Check out some source material to help inspire you:
- The Mysteries Behind Columbia
- Columbia: A Modern Day Icarus?
- City in the Sky Gameplay Trailer
- Elizabeth and the Songbird - Bioshock Infinite Trailer
- False Shepherd Trailer
- Bioshock Infinite

Once you've finished your entry you are welcome to head over to the Writers Round Table for a peer review from one of our resident justicars. Once you've done that, post a link to your entry in the comments below.

Reward:

We will be selecting two (2) winners to receive an Elizabeth figure signed by Ken Levine. Judging will be determined by GameSpot staff members and by resident Bioshock enthusiasts.

Rules and things you should know:

- You must be a GameSpot Registrant
- Deadline to submit your entry is March 29th, winners will be announced in the following week.
- Entries must be submitted in your blog space on gamespot.com or can be linked to in the comments on this page here.

Sorry about the long wait everyone. There have been so many great entries for our judges to read and evaluate. Fights over the best one were had, Kevin almost lost an eye.... Okay maybe not that last part. But the announcement of a winner draws near. You can expect to hear the winner of the contest on this Friday April 19th.

If you don't live in the U.S. but have an address there to post to, is it possible to win the figure?

Thank you to everyone who entered in this contest, as you can imagine it's going to take a little while to pour through all of these entries. Be sure to stay tuned for the winner announcement!

Okay, guys. I had difficulty posting this to Gamespot Blog post, so I am just providing link to my tour de force on my own website. It is complete w/ artwork. Story is quite long, 4 parts, and contains spoilers, since my story is essential a Redux w/ some original characters in it. Make sure to read them in correct order!!

I ended up having to put my ending onto a part 2, here are both parts:

Part 1: http://www.gamespot.com/users/blueboxdoctor/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-26018382

Part 2: http://www.gamespot.com/users/blueboxdoctor/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-26018383

It's definitely been fun reading everyone's stories.  Just goes to show how easy it is to get the community involved when game developers take pride in their games and the stories they tell.  Hopefully that will be a trend as we move forward into the next gen consoles.

@saurabhfiction @justice2501 Hey Saura thanks for taking the time to look at it, I appreciate it. You put alot of work into yours, I really enjoyed it as well, way to go :)

I wish i had a chance to touch it up after playing the game a bit.  There were a few details I would have liked to changed based on what I experienced in the game, but oh well.  It was still alot of fun to write!
