BioShock Infinite coming to Mac this summer

New version to launch for Apple computers later this year thanks to port from Aspyr; unclear if DLC is also in the works.

BioShock Infinite will release on Mac this summer, port studio Aspyr has announced. The long-awaited game is due to launch for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC next week.

Aspyr is responsible for a range of high-profile Mac ports, including Borderlands 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Lego: Star Wars, Civilization V, and Guitar Hero: World Tour, among others.

When BioShock Infinite releases next week, it will do so with heavy expectations. One analyst believes it could ship as many as 4.9 million copies.

A $20 downloadable content Season Pass will be available for BioShock Infinite at launch, which will feature three upcoming expansions for the first-person shooter. It is not clear if this content is also in development for the Mac version.

It's nice seeing ports of games from pc to mac. Mac needs more AAA games, it's the one thing the mac doesn't have.

I don't understand why these big developers are porting their titles to Mac and not Linux, even if you believe that Mac has a bigger market share it's been proven time and time again that Linux has more gamers with better hardware and are willing to spend more for games. Game developers make more money from Linux ports than Mac ports, so why don't the major developers wake up to this already, you would think Steambox with Linux would be enough as it is. Hopefully things change around, as a Linux user I've been patiently waiting for games like this to come to my platform.

Bring it to Linux! Macs are for n00bs who don't know how to use a real computer!

It's too big a market to ignore now. When I tried gaming on my iMac though, the poor GPU coupled with OSX's locked 125hz mouse polling made it quite a painful experience. More sensible to install bootcamp and Windows really if you wanna game properly. Still good news though :)

I sense more coming the way of Macs than traditionally.

That's a net positive.

Why does the dude in the picture with robot arms remind me of Transmetal 2 Optimus Primal?......

@JLCrogue devs use PCs buddy, Macs don't have enough under the hood for heavy visual processing.
