BioShock Infinite Burial at Sea Episode 1 out this holiday

First of two pieces of DLC set in Rapture launching this holiday season.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode One will be released this holiday, Irrational Games has confirmed with Joystiq. It is the first of two new expansions for the game set in the original BioShock's Rapture.

Irrational Games studio head Ken Levine said the first episode will be released "before the holiday," while part two's release date is not set yet. Irrational Games director of marketing Leonie Manshanden said, "It's not done yet; we don't have a date yet."

Both expansions are described as narrative-driven and meant to tie the story of Elizabeth and Booker together.

Gameplay has been modified to give players an "original BioShock combat experience" that aims to meld the best parts of BioShock and BioShock Infinite. It will also include new weapons, new Plasmids/Vigors, Tears, Sky-Lines, and Big Daddies.

Burial at Sea - Episode Two will have gamers playing as Elizabeth "as she seeks to bring closure to her story" and the overall BioShock Infinite narrative. This content is also set in Rapture.

Episode One and Episode Two will sell for $15 each when they launch and are included with the $20 BioShock Infinite DLC season pass.

Tokee420, I agree with you, but typically that means before Thanksgiving as that being the first big American holiday of the holiday season.

What does "before the holiday" mean? Which holiday?! Every damn month till February has a damn holiday in it........ Can we just get a date please?!

How the heck will skylines work in Rapture??

Regardless, I'm pretty excited to play this. I can't imagine what else they can add to the narrative after Infinite's ending... But hey, if Booker and Elizabeth are off on another adventure, I want in.

I'll be tempted to pick this up when it inevitably is released in a super duper deluxe version with Bioshock 1 and 2.

It's still a bit weird to me that Elizabeth changed this drastically.  She was 20 years old in Infinite.  Unless she payed a visit to golden age Steinman... her changes are going to take a lot of explaining to convince me.

So they are taking DLC and splitting it up into two parts? Way to milk it Irrational!

I'm glad I got the Season Pass for this game. Saving money in the long run. Usually I don't give a damn about Season Passes but this one was too good to pass up.

What sucks about this is that it probably won't be out before Xbox One and PS4 so it will be tough to get in time to play it.

I was hoping for these episodes a little earlier. I needed something to restore my faith in the game after playing, 'Clash in the Clouds'. I'd be happier with some sort of next-gen release at this point it time.

@Vozlov if I was not already hooked into the game I would do the exact same thing, best value for the buck and can play all of them, excellent.  This is exactly what I did when I found the Fallout series, luved every minute of that game as I did Bioshock 1/2/infinite....I find Skyrim engaging but just not the same mystery as Fallout and Bioshock, but fun....

@Evanrocknuma This DLC is set in a different time in another universe. It looks like Elizabeth is just a woman now rather than a girl.

@WeepsForFools Rather them take time and do it right than rush it and release crap or does that not make sense.... :roll: O_o;

@Redsyrup It happened....yesterday. They also removed GWFL and added all the multiplayer DLC, Protector's trials and Minerva's Den if you already own the game. If you don't own it yet, you'll have to buy Minerva's Den, but you get everything else. If you don't have it on Steam, register it to Steam to get this patch.

@Get_Shorty well if you were a PC gamer you would be fine to play all new games coming out as well as old ones...

ahh you're a console gamer.

I see the problem now :P

Evanrocknuma
Evanrocknuma

@cmw43 @Evanrocknuma That argument keeps getting used, but I don't yet see its merit (it could stand if the game proves it) but Levine already confirmed that the Elizabeth in this is "our" Elizabeth from Infinite.  And as I said, she was 20 in Infinite.  Not quite a woman but not exactly just a girl either.  That, and we've seen no evidence that people's physical build changes when traveling between universes.   **SPOILER**  Booker and Comstock look different, but that's because they exist separately.  I'd like to hear someone's thoughts on all this.

Bowser05

@everyday182 @Bowser05 What you said just sounds silly. You can't just use water as a skyline. Now using all the shipment lines in Rapture...that could work...

@uncle5555 @WeepsForFools You have to admit, It was terribly planned. I don't think everyone is happy they have to wait a year to play a few extra hours worth of content.(especially those who have already paid for it) I'm sure there's plenty of people who will be picking up their next-gen console before they get to even see all the DLC

Evanrocknuma
Evanrocknuma

@Hellsing4682 I certainly agree with you.  That was likely their thinking behind the change.  It's just that, if they had to reshape her body in order to convey a different demeanor, I'm not sure the design is as efficient as it could have been.

Hellsing4682
Hellsing4682

@Evanrocknuma @frylock1987 @cmw43

In Infinite, she pretty much WAS a girl who was trapped inside a large statue for almost her entire life; she was like a kid in a garden when she was finally released. In the DLC, she was never a prisoner, lived a completely different life than in Infinite. I'd like to say that she's more sophisticated than in Infinite, giving off a more mature vibe.

Evanrocknuma
Evanrocknuma

@frylock1987 @Evanrocknuma @cmw43 Could you be any more of a sarcastic ass?   Yes, I would consider Elizabeth a woman.  If you had read my comments properly, you might have noticed that I was refuting the argument that she is "just a girl" in Infinite.  I simply allowed for some room between the terms.

A-Typing-Llama
A-Typing-Llama

I think it's quite a long time for a singleplayer FPS with very little replay value and we're still waiting on a 3rd DLC. I guess I'm just a tad disappointed that we didn't get to play all the DLC before the release of the new consoles and while infinite was still fresh.

A-Typing-Llama
A-Typing-Llama

Gee, I would of liked to of seen the 2nd DLC already. The first was a let down and the game is quickly aging with the next-gen consoles on their way
