Big Boi, B.o.B. writing theme for Army of Two: Devil's Cartel

Hip-hop artists collaborating for "Double or Nothing" song and also will be featured in the game itself as playable characters for those who preorder.

Electronic Arts' upcoming shooter Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel will feature a theme song written by hip-hop artists Big Boi and B.o.B. The two are collaborating on a track called "Double or Nothing," EA announced today, but their involvement with the game does not stop there.

Not only are the rappers creating a song for The Devil's Cartel, but the pair will also be featured in the game itself. Big Boi will play the role of Charles "Chuy" Rendall, while B.o.B will take on the character Anthony "Baker" Barnes. Both characters are T.W.O. agents.

According to EA's press release, players will need to preorder The Devil's Cartel to receive access to Rendall and Barnes. Those who reserve the game will receive a "Hit-Makers Kit," which gives them access to a unique Contract mission that allows them to use Big Boi and B.o.B.'s characters.

The Devil's Cartel is due out March 26 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

Wow I'm going to rush out and buy this on day one because.....hey wait....who the hell are these guys?  Remind me again why rap music goes hand in hand with third person shooters? I'm confused....I'm cold and frightened....I don't want this game anymore.....(you can almost hear the PR guys "stick in some bad ass rappers and the kids will go crazy for it")

Just canceled my plans to preorder this game. Putting a rapper in a video game is almost as stupid as putting a rapper in a movie; they'll always ruin it.

The sole reason of these brainless comments are stereotypes which prove to me the masses are still only sheep. A new piece of information for you sheep, rap and hip hop are two different genres..

LMAO because I don't want to play as rappers. EA just gave me a very good reason not to preorder. Don't preorder don't get to play as rappers. Sounds good? An even better reason not to preorder is that this game will be in the bargin bin in a few months.

Without trying to debate the merits of any popular music (because they all suffer from roughly the same flaws in varying proportions), what type of music would you all like to hear while playing a shooter like Army of Two?

Regardless...I'm still looking forward to the game. The first one was pretty bad ass. The 2nd one, IMO, I think they missed the mark...so hopefully they learned well and adapted a whole new game for the 3rd time around.

LOL! Every time gamespot post an article about hiphop or rappers, there is always racist comments to follow.

Will Big Boi, in fact, be dropping bombs over baghdad in this game?

(yeah it was an easy joke, but it had to happen)

I wonder why video games nowadays seem to  be more about marketability ability(Rhyme), and not actual innovation, or uniqueness, like they were back in the day...I've been a Gamer since the mid 90's to date, and the progression of innovation seems to have stalled since Halo started this Marketing thingy, now everyone wants to have some Prominent celebrity character in the game's content, just to sell...It's not about fun anymore, just money money money :( i remember the days when gamers were gamers, and not part of a bigger involvement from Music stars, movie stars e.t.c, I'm losing my grip on love for other genres as well, I only play like...3 releases a year, whereas b4..hmm, I guess maturity has added to it as well, I'm 24 now with other problems to think of....Weird how i just randomly got personal there, anyways....IDK.....But yeah, Music stars and games...no no no.

As much as I like Outkast (Big Boi's original group), this better mount to more than just publicity.

I'm just wondering who keeps buying these games.

Judging by a lot of these comments all the people saw were "rapper" and thought "oh s*** I don't listen to rap better go make comments about how much this is gonna make the game suck! Oh and I've ever heard of these rappers cause i don't listen to rap music they must be some more generic gang bangers who can't rap!" Some folks talk with their head so far up their a** they don't even take time to just think.

Also I wonder if there are any Cee-Lo fans around, cause back in the day before he was doing the Voice and singing full songs he was living in Atlanta making meaningful rap songs with Goodie Mob annd Big Boi from Outkast.

Shit Big doin it?! Not gonna lie I might pay this game attention now to see what it's bout lol. If they'd put Andre on it i'd've preordered the game lol. not really but maybe i would have considered it lol.

BF3 used 30 - 40% of Frostbite 2 engine, MoH:W used below 20 percent and i'm guessing this game utilised below 5 % of FB2 engine, yet it looks very good. GOOD NEWS is Battlefield 4 is going use 80 percent of FB2 engine.

I like B.o.B as an artist but I'm not interested in the game by any means. It's a pre order bonus and completely optional in the end. Why is that any time anything hip hop related gets associated with a game, regardless of how insignificant it really is, people complain? These are the same exact comments that followed when B.o.B did the trailer song for Crysis 2 and guess what? It had absolutely NO effect on the game itself.

@StealthHimself the Wikipedia entry lists them as synonymous. You better get on that.

That's funny because he's teaming up with BOB whoever in the hell that is for this project, and the acronym for Bombs over Baghdad is, wait for it....BOB. That's what I thought of when I read the title.

I'm with you. Also music "stars" is debatable for this one..........of course "music" in this case is also debatable...........

 @Martyr77

That would go for Bo.B. Outkast (Big Boi's group), on the other hand, has a pretty good track record. Have you listened to Aquemini?

Nonetheless, I'm skeptical of celeb involvement. Even if Big Boi delivers, it's not a garuntee that it'll be a good game.

@Chaos_Dante_456  Fosho do!  The GOOD DIE Mostly Over Bulls***, ya heard.  Shakin my head at all these cats thinkin that Cee-lo just popped up outta nowhere. I showed one of my friends, who's "really big" into cee-lo, the clip of him rapping in the Cell Therapy video and she started *freakin* out when she saw this grimey lil dude in a wifebeater and gold teeth lookin like a leprechaun lolol

I feel the same way in regard to Big Boi. I love alotta Outkast's old stuff. But I'm just not into this particular type of game. Even if Big Boi does a good job with his character, it's no garuntee that it'll draw me in.

@Martyr77  @lipote I think debuting at #1 in multiple countries is considered being a star.  why wouldn't it be considered music?  are you still using guidelines set long before it existed?  music evolves and maybe your mindset will too someday -.-
