Beyond: Two Souls Could Ship on PS4, new Trophy Data Suggests

Sony declines to comment on rumored next-gen version of Quantic Dream's interactive drama.

Speculation regarding a PlayStation 4 edition of Beyond: Two Souls has surfaced again, this time via a purported list of Trophies that can be awarded by playing the game.

Though Sony has neither confirmed nor denied it is planning to publish a next-gen edition of Quantic Dream's interactive drama, speculation has circulated since July when two retailers listed a PS4 remastered version of the 2013 title.

Now, the Trophy tracking games site Exophase has published what it claims to be awards for the PS4 edition.

Sony said it "does not comment on rumour or speculation" when contacted by Gamespot.

If the rumors are accurate, Beyond: Two Souls would be the second Sony-published PS3 game rebuilt for next-gen, following the recent release of Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Remastered.

Some third-party publishers have also released remastered PS3 games on next-gen systems, such as Square Enix, which in February shipped Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on both PS4 and Xbox One.

We have to give developers some time to figure out how to put the next gen technology to good use. In the mean time releasing these great games for PS4 is great especially for gamers like myself whose first Sony console is PS4.

I enjoyed TLOU remastered so much, and I am sure I would enjoy Beyond as well.

Never played this game, but if it controls anything like Heavy Rain, you can keep it. I spent more time fighting the controller than enjoying the game.

Wow. They will port entire ps3 catalog to ps4 instead of making new games?

Porting is cheaper, right sony?

LAME!

Normally I'd say "spend that time and effort making a new game, rather than porting a relatively new one."  But in this instance I don't care.  I dislike this game (and also games like Heavy Rain) so much that I don't care how this dev spends their time.

If The Last of Us didn't fully quench your thirst for playing last gen Ellen Paige on a current gen console within a year of the original, here comes actual Ellen Paige in Beyond: Two Souls.

Next Gen still Awaits.

You know...you could go ahead and release it on the PC. This game would look ten times better on a PC. I find it really weird how they talk up the graphics for this game, and then hobble it by not allowing it to be on a system that could really make them shine.

This game isn't worth porting to the PS4. I'll just wait for the Halo ports on my XBOX One. Those are much better than interactive movie games.

Already leaked awhile ago on French Amazon, wasn't it? Still, excited about a PS4 version, I already sold my PS3 version after the last leak.

I saw this one coming.  This is a great decision financially, as there is a lack of games on Ps4 this year.  Beyond will do well on next-gen consoles.  I would hope they can enhance it a bit visually not that compression may not be all that necessary.  I enjoyed the game and look forward to hearing what a "remastered" version will offer for those who already played it on Ps3.

I would highly recommend Ps3 players to give this a try at around 20-30 dollars.  Quite a different experience.

Ha! I love how these people come bash the PS4 for getting remasters...while me on the other hand, laugh, you knew PS4 was right around the corner when these games were announced, if you would have wait long enough you wouldn't feel this way, now watch me play all those games you spent $60 bucks on much better definition!!!!

Now that I remember, I thought this game was done for...since that chick tried to sue or something...wonder what happened to that...

Again, another PS3 game going to the super remastering console aka "next gen PS4", be happy sony fans, you still can play old games on your emulator err console.

Cool. Now I'll have the option of not playing it on two systems. Seriously when will David Cage go away? His games suck.

Already played this on the ps3. There is not enough replay value in this game to get it again. Especially not for the $50 or $60 they will ask for it.

I guess Sony needs to break even with this garbage. It's a shame PS4 owners have limited choices and this is a void filler. But hey, it'll be in 1080p, right? That's the new standard when judging games...apparently.

Didn't Sony say they were done with these remasters?

Never played it, but I loved Heavy Rain and always wanted to play this. Is it any good? Comments from people who have already played it would be appreciated.

I wouldn't mind along with the new ones. Old gen systems is like having a dvd player.

@psxp-one  You're also playing those games well over a year later at best, saving no money (or even spending more, compared to those that didn't buy them brand new), and you end up playing slightly prettier versions of games many people already played.  Those other people are out playing new true next gen games while you're playing gussied up last gen games.

Just saying...

@psxp-one

You make a really good point. I actually stopped buying games in the latter years of the PS3 due to screen tear pushing the console too hard and the fact that the next gen was really close. I was saving for the console and putting money aside for the games. I only bought AC3, FC3, TLOU and GTAV on the PS3 in the final years.

I was going to give GTAV a miss because I was 100% certain the game was built using scaleable generic game engine with high res assets, and would definitely be out on PS4 in its full glory. But I decided to double dip to reward Rockstar for doing such an awesome PS3 port of one of the best games ever made. The Last Of Us is also one of the best games ever made which I would have bought anyway, double dip or not. Skyrim was THE best game ever made and ran lke crap on PS3, so we urgently need that remastered on PS4.

The point is we all knew this gen was coming and we all had the choice to buy the PS3 versions, knowing the devs would be probably making the game artwork in high res so it would be scaleable for the next gen. We cannot complain. If you want to play classic games in high quality you have the option, if not just wait for new games but only a few of them will be classics.

Example, no way was I going to buy the excellent Bioshock Infinite on PS3 with blurred graphics and screen tear, but if you give me a remaster on PS4, my money is waiting.

Regarding Beyond Two Souls, it's not a classic and does not deserve a remaster but I'm not complaining about having the choice. I want to like it but they need to dump the quicktime events and stop the characters walking around like high res photorealistic robots. Moving them is like driving a remote controlled toy car. Sony needs to get a grip of David Cage and get him to stop being a wannabe film director and make proper games that have modern interactive control systems.

I think you are thinking of TLOU, but that never happened. It was all the angry people on the internet that made a big deal out of a few comments from the actress of this game.

@Sevenizz

I assume you think there is something more appetising on the XB1 then. I see nothing that I want apart from the next Tomb Raider game which MS stole via a corrupt bribe and will be on PS4 later in much higher quality. Far Cry 4 is what I want and it will run superior on PS4. Same for Metro Redux, GTAV remastered and AC Unity. You are deluded if you think that 1080p is the standard for judging games on PS4. All components are taken into account when judging a games merit, not just gameplay as MS would have you believe.

You will never have a game on the XB1 in 1080p 60fps that matches The Last Of Us in terms of story, characterisation and gameplay. Stop leaning on the res-gate 1080p as a crutch by claiming the XB1 has superiority due to a good gameplay exclusivity. You are just deluding yourself, not us.

yeah, remember last gen we don't play in HD, that was just a rumor, real HD its on this new consoles only

@guydude3412 It is a quick and profitable way to get software on the system.  Once the exclusive start rolling in, they will cease a lot of this I'm sure.

Dieknochenblume

Wow, thanks guys. It struck me as odd to find it in the PAX sale on PSN for only 20 bucks, as if the game itself hadn't sold well to be in a sale of this kind. Maybe I'll wait till it's included on PS Plus or have someone lend it to me. What a let down, but better warned than sorry.

Jasurim
Jasurim

@Dieknochenblume I agree pretty much with most people here.  I love Heavy Ran, but to me Beyond just fell flat a little.  The story is kind of convoluted and the choices really don't seem to have the same impact which was half the fun of Heavy Rain.

megablast16
megablast16

@Dieknochenblume I wouldn't say it was a must buy but it was OK, if you've still got your PS3 though I'd get it cheap on that platform as playing this particular game in 1080p wouldn't really add much.

Heavy Rain was overrated.

psxp-one

Not really, lol, its not like I'm in a time capsule, I could say the same thing to you by the time you get to play the order, arkam knight and bloodborne right? Anyone here still getting movies in vhs format knowing that there is a dvd (bluray) version? Post your comment below...cus thats exactly whats happening here.

psxp-one

Yeah, I stopped buying games right at the announcement of PS4, believe me, I was sooooo ready to jump to current gen. I did control myself to buy GTA5 and SR4 because I was hoping they would come to PS4 and I did set it in my mind that I was done with PS3. So, I do welcome remasters!!

Sevenizz

Ironically, I watched Last of Us on my Xbox One via YouTube. Story/characters - top notch. Gameplay - generic at best.

Titanfall isn't 1080p - yet it blows anything on a Sony console clear out of the water.

el_swanno

If you get a chance to try it I would suggest you check the game out. I was pretty skeptical about it but I borrowed it from a friend and was actually pretty impressed.

As a lot of people have mentioned the game contains a lot of QTEs and a lot of the choices are pretty meaningless as they will affect how the scene plays out but won't affect the overall story.

As a game it's pretty shite but as a piece of interactive cinema it provides some wonderful and unforgettable moments. I think it's possibly Ellen Page's best performance in anything (although I haven't seen Hard Candy - shame on me).

I think this game set a high-water mark for story-telling and performance in a video game. It goes in some unexpected directions sometimes.

@psxp-one er mother also has special abilities, and is in a coma at a hospital, kept artificial alive. You can kill her later, as a gift for her. Nathan Dawkins can die too in the ending, as he tries to communicate with his dead family (who died in a car crash). He opens a portal to the other dimension, which you have to shut down. Jodie can die herself, if you choose to enter the other side in the end. She also falls in love with the army-guy, and he can die too. Now go play the game, you rat. I hope you enjoy it as much knowing the plot. Hope it was worth the wait, and your kind words. Thank you! I had a blast with the game!

@psxp-one Aiden is Jodie's dead twin brother. That's the reason she has the spirit, as he was strangled before birth.

@Sevenizz  Yes, good way to describe it. I felt like I was working rather than playing.  And I couldn't get into any kind of groove, etc.  Just eck!!
