Bethesda stokes Hunted: The Demon's Forge June 1

Violent co-op fantasy action game from inXile Entertainment dated; European launch to follow on June 3.

by

Bethesda Softworks' Demon's Forge is heating up. The publisher today announced its fantasy action game Hunted: The Demon's Forge would arrive in North America on June 1 and in Europe two days later.

The Demon's Forge is presumably where unholy smithys ply their trade. Or a nightclub.

Originally announced last year, Hunted places a heavy emphasis on cooperative play. Players will take on the role of either the master swordsman Caddoc or the ranged weapon expert E'lara, as they work together to figure out what's behind a rash of disappearing townsfolk. Gameplay will focus on cover-based combat and puzzle-solving, coupled with exploration of dungeons, ruins, and urban areas.

Hunted is in development at inXile Entertainment, best known for the Line Rider franchise of physics-based puzzle games, as well as its 2004 PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC revamp of The Bard's Tale role-playing game franchise. The studio also worked on Codemasters' crime-action game Hei$t, although that project was cancelled after several years in development.

This game looks awesome! But I was really disappointed to hear it does not include split-screen. Gone are the days when your friends can come over and you can blow stuff up together on the same couch. You'd think a co-op centered game would have split screen...

I'll probably give this a rent, I'm a co-op junkie.

Still looks pretty bad, probably just a cash grab. Why does Bethesda hate good animation?

This isn't an RPG guys, it's a game like Gears of War in a fantasy setting. Not ALL fantasy games are RPGs.

Previous coverage of this game made it look terrible, but that trailer is pretty intriguing.

Witcher 2 and this one is what I hope for to be good RPGs in 2011. And I hope it will not be anything like Fallout 3 (which was hyped up game due to the franchise while it had nothing from the "old" Fallout except the name).

Fingers crossed that this game is a solid game.. I'm not sure i'll be making this a day one purchase UNLESS I get my hands on a demo.. "Gameplay will focus on cover-based combat" make me wonder how this is going to work with a Master Swordsman..

as far as co-op or multiplayer games this year, THIS and War in the North, remain my wife and I's most anticipated games. Really cannot wait for this

If you have room mates or friends over all the time.. this game looks like a lot of fun. But I bet the SP experience is going to be not so good. But I am rooting for this game to be epic. I like the idea and the setting.

Looks like a rental too me.. To many games that focus on a good "co-op" experience end up falling flat.. I mean, look at Army of Two.. Either way it looks promising.. I'd still trade this in for Hei$t anyday.. I was waiting for Hei$t for about 4years until i finally read they canceled it.. So lame!

Looks good. Been following this title for a while now, so I hope they deliver something solid.

Not in my top 20 games to get in 2011, that's for sure. Not even in my top 40 for rentals. Unless the gameplay is incredible, I don't see too many gamers getting this.

@Barighm This is not a Bethesda game, just published by Bethesda. I think it looks like crap. Torchlight II, Diablo III, Grim Dawn are going to bemuch better.

I have my doubts about this, but hopefully it will be good

Bethesda's RPG's are great. Not too fond of their action titles though.
