Earlier this week, THQ got into the holiday spirit by offering up the Ho Ho Ho Pack for Saints Row. The free pack spread some cheer by giving gamers a Santa Claus outfit that could be put on their in-game characters.
It appears that Bethesda is sipping from the same eggnog. The publisher has revealed that it will be giving away a content pack for the Xbox 360 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for free.
Mehrunes' Razor, originally released in June for 250 Marketplace points ($3.13), will be available as a free download beginning December 22. Gamers had better not dillydally on the offer, as the content pack goes back to its original price on January 1.
There was no mention of any offers for the PC version, and Bethesda was unavailable for comment as of press time. For more information on the game, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
sweet i was gunna DL it any way, but now i save a few MP
Wow i downloaded it then just cause I saw it as free, i didnt know it was going back.... guess I was lucky.
I cant wait
i didnt download it cause i thought the expansion had it in it and it doesnt and now i have to pay again ugh im such an idiot
Well said jedi1977
freaky_monkey For the last time... ITS NOT ABOUT THE $3 IT'S ABOUT THE PRINCIPLE. Now pray do tell me exactly what part of the above are you struggling to understand. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And what principle would that be? The one that should have held you back in school? Or the fact that everything sooner or later goes on "sale" and if you miss the sale oh well that's life? I still don't see what everyone is complaining about. If something that I payed for and downloaded last week was up for free, because of the generosity of the hard working people at that company, now I would be "oh man that sucks...I guess back to living life" . That's the brakes of it. I wouldn't complain about it. I'd move on. I would actually move on from this topic but it irritates the crap out of me when people complain about stupid things like this and think they have a valid point. The only time mods should be free is if some joe smo from Idaho makes one of his own free will and love of the game and lets people enjoy his work. But not if people who work at a company (who collect a paycheck from said company) make it. Thats what they do as a job. It costs the company money to have these people make this extra content. Some people forget that this is still a business and charity should be welcomed with open arms even by the people who can't partake in it. We as gamers should applaud them...plain and simple.
i agree with the bottom poster, but mods need to be free, more or less the pc version is already swraming with good and some better mods
Just do like I do when a $3 dollar pack is released...dress in your rattiest clothes and head downtown to panhandle for the money! It only takes a minute or so at rush hour! Never mind that you'll spend more money in gas getting there. It's just so fun to do! Just beware of the real homeless people out there who actually need the handouts for food and not some make believe weapon on their $400 game machine, playing a game that cost $60 bucks, connected to a $600+ television, connected to the internet for $50/month, under a $200,000 roof over their head! Yeah, it really sucks to be you 'cause you paid 3 bucks for extra content that was free for a few days. LOL, someone said "Lawsuit"!
i don't know about this oblivion game. Seems pretty suspect.
lol, now it aint free anymore. happy all you complaining bastards? i already bought mine day it came as free and beaten it. the only
if you can't afford 3 bux, then maybe you shouldn't be buying and playing games....
umbra and thae razor are both good weapons. if anyone else has the mace of doom from the wizards tower glith, they will know thats probably the best weapon in thegame. and also dont use 4 30%chameleon sigil stones on ur armor. not only will u be totally invicible to all, but u will cheapen ur gaming experience. trust me i know! same with the unlimited money from the vampire cure
That sucks, I bought it a while ago I feel ripped off!
Thi will give my Christmas a meaning

lowenergycycle These are the same people who complained about the Knghts of the Nine DVD for the PC that was released about a month or so ago. They moaned that the content came out on a DVD you could buy from a store even though it cost less to download all of the stuff from the Bethesda site. To be honest people who have nothing better to do than sit on the internet and whine and moan about games due to the slightest reason are a disgrace to gamers worldwide and make Jack Thompson sound reasonable. They do that while the real gamers happily download the content that Bethesda was generous enough to literally give away and enjoy it. To be honest my only complaint is that they only did it for the 360 version but considering that I already have the downloadable content from the KoTN DVD then I'm not really bothered by it either.
Sipher213 "HOLY CRAP, you guys serious? You all get pissed off because you spent THREE DOLLARS ( omfg ) on a mini-expansion pack, and now its free because its the holidays for a few weeks? You people disgust me. Not only are the devs giving you something you should normally pay for, for free, you complain about it? Where's the holiday spirit? Hell, they shouldn't even have bothered to do this for you ungrateful bunch. And if you think it isn't fair, well tough s***, life isn't fair. Live with it." ========================================================= Damnit the man's right. Quit being so misserable. Anybody here with a job earns more money in HALF an HOUR than the original asking price for Mehrunes Razor. And if they don't... well... get a better job fool. It's really not that expensive. You haven't been ripped off. What about all the old PC games you (maybe) played a few years ago that are now abandonware and free to download? Are you gonna stomp and shout about an actual significant loss there? Or are you all just complaining because you've got nothing better to do with your empty lives? Thanks Bethesda, for being so generous. I hope the rest of you feel ashamed of yourselves.
awesome timing for me im getting live tommorow, cool im so exicited
nix6six6 "Thats sweet but i already completed the game and probably won't go back to it... It's a great game but theres too many other games out there." Agreed and I already have Umbra

There must be a lot of people out there that are hurting for money if all they can complaint about is dropping $3-4 on content that the dev's work on (that they didn't have to) and on top of that ask or demand a refund? HA that's the lamest thing I've ever heard. I think I'll go ask Sony for a refund on the difference of my PS2 now that it's only $130 instead of $300 when I got it. That will always be the price of getting things early. Bethesda should be praised for their generosity this Holiday season...they didn't have to do that. Things like this is part of the reason why gamers are looked at as lame, nerdy or just plain whiners when things don't go exactly how we (as individuals gamers) think they should go. I mourn the companies that try and please every gamer out there. Gee, I wonder if this message will get pulled like my last one. I guess the truth hurts. Game on!!!!
jazilla I don't knpw why anyone would pay for a mod on a PC. For the 360 that's way cool though. I enjoy making my own stuff on the PC version and would never pay for something. It's always more rewarding(cheaper) to play someone else's creation, or your own. Cool for them for releasing a free download for the 360 version though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I don't think u can mod all the stuff they put in there. Anyways, I played the download and it was well worth the microsoft points....had I paid lol.
I'm still messing around with the main quest, so it'll be a while before I get to this one.
tight
So Zmaster, Technically your still not buying anything......
Since I just got Knights of the Nine (PC), no loss.
I don't understand why it's free for xbox but nothing happen's for PC...
I did not buy it in the first place because it did not look worth the money. But now I can buy it with out any payment of any kind.
well...if you paid for it and now complaining... thats the price you pay for playing it earlier then the rest of us :] for those who get it now... happy holidaysssss :]

hate or love the micro-transactions, its free for now, get it while its hot.
looks like bethesda is learning something from epic :)
"WillT12345 "Tiefster People shouldn't have to pay for this stuff in the first place. " Why not, people spent time making it, don't they desirve to get paid. What are they doing it for charity? Its 3 dollars, and for a limited time its free. They are being generous and you gotta say an ignorant thing like that." He says people should'nt have to pay because we've been getting this stuff for free on the PC for years. Thanks a lot to M$ to starting micro transactions that killed what developers would have originally given to this material to "faithful" players.

Or put another way... as usual the customer who originally supported the company when it released its software gets the screw job.
As usual the customer who buys it all right away when it comes out, gets the screw job.
