Benedict Arnold missions exclusive to PS3 Assassin's Creed III

Four missions surrounding infamous American traitor coming exclusively to Sony platform; no word on release for Xbox 360, PC, Wii U.

Infamous Revolutionary War American general and exposed traitor Benedict Arnold will be resurrected in Assassin's Creed III, but only for PlayStation 3 gamers. Sony announced today that the PS3-exclusive missions for Ubisoft's new stealth-action game involve Arnold's secret plot to betray West Point.

The four-mission story sees General Washington request the help of Assassin's Creed III hero Connor to expose Arnold as a traitor. During the course of the narrative, players will be tasked with taking down Loyalist spies and going behind enemy lines. The missions will culminate with the historical assault on West Point.

Unlike the previously announced Tyranny of King George downloadable content for Assassin's Creed III, the Benedict Arnold missions will be more in line with actual history.

Scriptwriter Matt Turner told the PlayStation Blog that characters in the missions will deliver lines that were actually spoken by major players in the events at West Point. And though some of the gameplay may deviate from what happened during the actual event in the late 1700s, the rest is as authentic as possible, Turner said.

"Who was there, what they did, and what happened to them is as precise as the history books would allow," he said.

The Benedict Arnold missions have been announced only for the PS3. It is not clear if Xbox 360, PC, or Wii U gamers will ever have a chance to play the content. A Ubisoft representative was not immediately available for comment.

Fact: Benedict Arnold was a loyal revolutionary, who after being treated like complete trash on several occasions decided "screw it, they don't want me," and changed sides. The separatists betrayed him first. Look it up.

It's going to be 360/PC DLC, it's just going to be a couple of months later. They did this with Assassin's Creed II, they did this with Brotherhood, they did this with Revelations. Doesn't matter to me that it comes a little later.

Even if this dlc is a timed exclusive, it's nice to see us PlayStation loyalists not getting passed over for once.

I hope this comes to PC as paid DLC. I really hated losing out on the couple PS3-exclusive DLCs for the past games.

Ubisoft feels bad for us PS3 users! THANKS UBISOFT!! good to see someone appreciates us!

This is a pointless move by ubisoft, only means they loose money?!?!?!

Lol, Ubisoft must have felt bad for Sonys fanbase after we have had to deal with this Bethesda DLC BS. Hell, 360 people shouldn't complain after Skyrim. We got screwed over even when it came to patches! Sony is smart for doing this. Hell, as annoying as it is, any company is smart when they do exclusives like  this.

Xbox 360 user's should stop complaining. You have dlc's from games that are only for xbox and so it's our turn to have a chance at having a dlc just for ps3  ;)

Hey!  It's a great thing when console manufacturers use third party games as sales pitches for their consoles!

Except it isn't, ever.  Ubisoft can once again suck it.

That's the weirdest thing. I thought this stuff was done. Also, is it fitting or not that an American traitors mission aren't on the 360?Anyway these will probably show up on 360 before too long. Everything else seems to go multiplatform after the exclusivity timer runs out.

It's about time this kinda rubbish is stopped. I have a PS3 so I could buy it for that but my friend who I'd do the multiplayer with only has a 360. Looks like he's going to have to mine those chivos the hard way...

I don't mind the idea of certain DLC available free on one platform...but at least have the common courtesy to make it available for the other - even if it is for a small price.  I have and Xbox and Wii....so instead of pre-ordering this for the Xbox, I will now wait until the missions are available to buy the game.

Well...  Looks like I'll either be waiting until they release a GOTY Edition (or something with a different name that's basically the same thing) which includes this DLC for all systems, or waiting until I get a PS3 to actually get this, which sure as hell is not going the ideal option, since I don't plan to get one for a while now, possibly after this generation is over.

I seriously hate when companies do this.  When it's on a console I don't have, it makes my version of the game the slightly inferior one.  But I always feel sorry for people who experience the same crap from these game companies whenever it's my console that gets the exclusive DLC.  There are a lot of issues I've had with DLC in general, but this issue is right up there with on-disk DLC in terms of the most annoying, and it needs to stop.

For me, exclusive DLC is like sex with a bar skank:  When someone else gets it, you feel jealous and angry, but when I get it, it just ends up feeling dirty and wrong.  I wish this trend would die out.

Why do all these publishers think its ok to put more content in one version over another and still charge $60 on all platforms?

Since I have both systems, I'll just get it 4 360 and if the extra missions review well and drop 4 xbox, possibly snag 'em later.

electronic_eye

Extra missions = cool. Oversized marketing sticker about said missions that covers part of killer box art = LAME. And a deal-breaker 4 purists/collectors like myself. (In case you're thinking the sticker is only on the shrink wrap, by looking at images of the box at the big box retailers' sites, you can tell pretty easily it's freaking printed w/ that crap already on there.)

It's probably a timed thing just like 90% of the other shit. Don't get too upset over this cause you'll be playing it in 3 months. Splinter Cell has exclusive 360 stuff so it's only fair the PS3 has something exclusive from Ubi as well.

jdt532
jdt532

It's funny reading all the bitter comments from Xbox fans here after looking at the very long list of timed exclusive DLC that came to the 360 this generation. PS3 owners are still waiting for Dawnguard and Hearthfire, I doubt anyone complaining here (360 owners) have shed one tear over that...

Well I guess its off to cancel my 360 pre order and switch it to PS3.  Good to own both systems best of both worlds.

lol Preorder cancelled. Thanks UBi for saving me $60. Ain't no way I am paying the same for less.

So far, AC3 has been chopped up into-

PS3-only DLC

Retailer-specific DLC

Pre-order-only DLC

Pre-planned SERIES of DLC

I don't know about you guys, but I really don't feel like paying $60 for something that seems so incomplete. I really hope more people feel the same way, so that maybe Ubi can lose some day-one sales and get the goddam hint that none of their consumers enjoy this kind of treatment.

Im with you on this. I don't think they'll keep it just for ps3 for to long.

MaxPainAlchmst

@Hungry_Homer111 don't be selfish, instead of hating companies for doing this ONLY for systems you don't own, you should take a moral stand and hate this when it happens in general, which I thought you were going to say in your long rant.

Dragon_Nexus

@electronic_eye Surely if you were a collector, you'd have a 360 and PC version without the sticker.

And buy the later PS3 version that didn't have the sticker.

mstrchf12

@Vodoo PS3 has exclusivity like the expansions for BF3 come out earlier on PS3. Also, Assassin's Creed series has always had PS3 exclusive features. Brotherhood had the Copernicus Conspiracy DLC. The Revelations multiplayer beta was PS3 exclusive and now this.

Gamer_4_Fun

@Vodoo Usually PS exclusive remains exclusive, your confusing it with the way Microsoft uses the term.

@Suikogaiden   Even better...assassinate John Hancock at the reading of the Declaration of Independence to force the colonist back to Britains control...a whole new line of games birthed from Americans non-independence.

SUNDRAGONJ
SUNDRAGONJ

@Suikogaiden How does and evil Washington and Benedict Arnold missions equate to burning the flag? You sir are an imbecile. The Washington DLC is a WHAT IF possibility, because Washington was so well liked that he could have been KING. Benedict Arnold actually did happen and the mission here is to expose him as a traitor.

Well, it kills accusations of them being anti-British.

@123biteme It is totally possible for someone to beat the game before the 30th the game is relatively easy and to me, short.

@123biteme better bet would be to watch the Gamespot "The Story So Far" videos if you just want to get caught up on the story - otherwise, play them on your own time and maybe ACIII will be cheaper by the time you're ready to play it

@mstrchf12  @Vodoo quit your whining you big babies, the DLC's that are exclusive for 360 and aren't for PS3 don't make me bitch so shut up and get a PS3 if you want to play it so bad.

SUNDRAGONJ
SUNDRAGONJ

@KoolzKatz  @unreal101 Well it's complete in reality, but say if the content was already on the disk and the company locked it then that would be a problem.
