Bejeweled E3 2004 Preshow First Look

One of the most popular Web-based puzzle games ever created is coming to the GBA.

Comments

Though Bejeweled has been available in numerous freeware- and mobile-based iterations for quite some time, the quirky, addictive puzzle game has yet to show its face in any sort of console iteration, handheld or otherwise. Considering the game's popularity, it would seem only natural that a game publisher would want to capitalize on it. Majesco Games has stepped up to the plate and will be releasing Bejeweled for the Game Boy Advance later this month.

Developed by Popcap Games, the GBA installment of Bejeweled won't differ much from the basic core concepts of the game. You will be presented with a board featuring a number of colored jewels. Your goal will be to swap pairs of jewels around to try to line up three or more jewels of the same color, horizontally or vertically. Once this is accomplished, the line disappears. You continue until you're out of moves or you've conquered the board. Pricing for the game has not been set yet, though considering that multiple freeware versions of the game exist all over the Internet, it seems logical that the game would feature a more budget-minded pricing.

We will have more on Bejeweled as its release draws closer.
