Beatles: Rock Band tunes up 15 more tracks

"Paperback Writer," "Revolution," "Yellow Submarine" among newly announced songs for Fab Four's upcoming game; 25 of 45 on-disc songs now confirmed.

MTV Games and Harmonix are expecting an outbreak of Beatlemania September 9 when their long-awaited The Beatles: Rock Band for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii is released, and the pair is doing everything in its power to make it a full-blown pandemic. Today they revealed another batch of songs from the game's 45-track setlist, with every major period of the band's career represented.

Perhaps the greatest Lennon-McCartney collaboration was not a song at all, but the original porn 'stache.

The 15 new songs feature signature Beatles tunes, such as "Paperback Writer," "Revolution," and "With a Little Help From My Friends." They're also tied to various points in the band's career. For instance, "Twist and Shout" sees the band getting its start playing the Cavern Club in Liverpool, while "Dig a Pony" and its Apple Corp. rooftop concert venue virtually reproduce The Beatles' very last performance. Other famous locales to be included in the game include Shea Stadium, the Ed Sullivan Theater, and Budokan.

Those who don't see their favorite Beatles tracks on the list can still hold out hope that they will find their way into the game eventually. Beyond the 20 remaining on-disc songs to be announced (some of which will be previously unreleased), The Beatles: Rock Band will feature downloadable content. When the game launches September 9, Xbox 360 owners will be able to purchase "All You Need Is Love," with proceeds going to the Doctors Without Borders charity. Additionally, the classic album Abbey Road will be released as downloadable content in its entirety across platforms.

The complete list of announced on-disc songs follows below. For more on The Beatles: Rock Band, check out GameSpot's latest preview.

I really hope that eventually, Harmonix possibly makes the entire Beatles song catalog available for this game/all the Rock Band games. It's very possible. In addition to already making a great game that truly does its influence justice, doing something like this would really set The Beatles: Rock Band apart from the mediocre band-centric Guitar Hero games.

Great I hope, "A Day In Life" will be announced. Harmonix is doing an excellent job in bringing the spirit of The Beatles in this game.

I'm not usually into the rhythm game genre, but this one is definitely grabbing my interest. I mostly want to play around with vocal harmonies on "Here Comes the Sun" and "Sgt. Pepper".

Glad "And Your Bird Can Sing" made it in... one of the first songs I'd ever learned on bass, and still a personal favorites.

Excellent selections. I am a little nervous you won't be able to play "Tomorrow Never Knows" on it's own rather than the LOVE remix, but I'm sure it will be available. "I got a feeling, a feeling deep inside; oh yeah."

AH! YES! Dig a Pony and I've Got a Feeling! YES. So happy. If Rain and She Said She Said were announced, too, I'd be completely satisfied with the track list, no matter what else was on there.

Well there's still time and songs to announce so fingers crossed. Diggin' the selection so far, though. :D

More songs from Revolver is always welcome. I am slightly worried about the fact that no songs from Rubber Soul have been included as of yet. :(
