Why is everybody sad that this is a Nintendo exclusive? All systems have exclusives!!! You guys sad because Nintendo does not have the same specs as the PS4 and Xbone do? Who cares?!?!?! Chances are we all going to own a Nintendo system anyways, you can't stop the inevitable!! believe me I tried. There is always something deep down inside you that thrives for that simple, party and family fun system. Don't fight it, instead of hating your lives, buy the daam system!!! its only $289!!!! Zelda? really? you guys telling me you will not want to play that game? Smash bros? you also telling me you dont want to play that game with a group of friends, loser takes shots? COME ON before you know it B2 will be released and you will already have the system =) I have a PS3,PS4,360,Wii and now own a WII U and man, all my old WII games look great!!!!

Pissed!  That's what I am, right now.  I don't care what the reasoning is, having titles exclusive to a console is a marketing ploy designed to limit my choices as a consumer and force me the have "brand loyalty" (which is kind of ironic when you think about it).  This is one of my absolute, all time favorite games and the fact that it is limited to a single console is just wrong.  I don't care who fronted the money or is "taking the risk".  The developer would make more money if they sold it across multiple platforms, plain and simple.  Which means this isn't about making great games for us to enjoy, it's all about keeping us under their control.  And all I want tot do is play a good game...

mmmm...Sony and MS fanboy tears are so yummy! Hey, if you're this butthurt over the game being a WiiU exclusive, but too much of a chump to buy a console to play the game, why don't you beg Nintendo to port it to it's competitor consoles? While you're at it, why don't you also ask Nintendo to port Zelda games to the PS as well?

LOL

I'm still absolutely heartbroken that this is a Nintendo exclusive. I know the whole backstory to this and I understand it,but it still sucks. The sequel to my favorite game of all time won't even be released on the platforms it first came out on. Absolute, total, unmitigated bummer........

Dont worry! expect a director's cut edition in later years on the superior consoles :P

The interesting thing about this is that before DmC was announced, I was imagining a possible DMC5 having co-op. Now Bayonetta 2 has it. I love it when these kind of things come true.

Can't wait for this game to come out.

Damn @ this being Wii-U only.  It had fell off of my map but now it has co-op?  Me and like 4 of my friends were all playing the first one at the same time and would have definitely gotten in on some ass kicking.  Not sure why post-Genesis it seemed like developers all got together and said no beat-em-up should ever have co-op again.

Big F-U to Sega for canning this game and having to rely on Nintendo (which is why it's exclusive) to pay for it.

feleas

real damn shame it's on the wii-u. thanks nintendo for being a greedy bugger and making it exclusive. I enjoyed the first game on my XBOX 360, not the WII. oh well, I'll just have to acknowledge the fact that there is no Bayonetta 2 because I've been refusing that the Wii and Wii-U exist. I mean sure the Xbox One is garbage but I still find Nintendo's current generation consoles to be even worse lol

@Uruca If I read you right, you're expecting the same abysmal sales figures I am? In some ways I'm hoping for it to fail miserably and in others I'm not. I never thought I'd be this conflicted or upset over a stupid videogame, but this one title / property / character is pretty near and dear to my heart, I guess.........

@DETfaninATL Maybe you should show some respect. Nobody gave a shit about Platinum games except for Nintendo who picked them up when they were down. So your reaction is to complain about Nintendo? You're pathetic.

AerLightwing
AerLightwing

@DETfaninATL You've seen the videos of the game by now, right?
The gameplay segments?
There's no need to be depressed, my friend; Platinum Games is keeping the series true to itself in action and sexiness as well as in humor and storyline[from what we've seen so far].

If you're willing to follow the franchise you love, then the Wii U is a worthwhile buy for this game, and a very good home to boot.

Keep an open mind and give it a chance. The Wii U isn't so bad a system that it ruins Bayonetta.

KimCheeWarriorX
KimCheeWarriorX

@DETfaninATL believe me, i feel your pain. i was anxiously anticipating what other sega games that were going to be inspirations for bayonetta 2 (the outrun stage, afterburner stage, etc.). seeing as how its on a nintendo console, i guess we're going to see nintendo inspired stages instead. maybe a stage where bayonetta has to subdue her enemies by jumping on their heads, i dunno. *shrugs*

AerLightwing

@wongph By then, the real fans will have gotten the game on the Wii U, instead of being elitist jerks who don't give a great game the credit it deserves all because they can't get over their hate of a console.

@SilentAssassin God forbid Nintendo try to appeal to adult audiences again. Remember the N64 and GameCube when they worked with Rare, Silicon Knights, and n-Space?

GameBeaten
GameBeaten

@SilentAssassin Platinum Games went to Sony and Microsoft first about funding and publishing Bayonetta 2. Sony and Microsoft didn't give two shits about the game. Sega didn't care either (probably because the first game didn't sell too hot).

So then Platinum Games went to Nintendo asked them to fund and publish the game. Nintendo agreed. Bam. Wii U exclusive. In other words, blame everyone but Nintendo.

Also, too violent for Nintendo? Here's a list of M-rated games across multiple Nintendo platforms.

@SilentAssassin Well, they didn't "give" this exclusive to Nintendo, Nintendo kinda "bought" it. The game was canceled. No publisher cared. It would never see the light of the day. So Nintendo went, funded the game and it's now an exclusive. Surely that's not a hard thing to understand?

And explain to me: what is this "Nintendo crowd" you talk about? Do you have any research providing you with hard data about what would this group consist of? Tastes, age, gender, income, nationality? No? Then I guess we should understand what is this "Nintendo crowd through your shortsighted vision? Because that's certainly a recipe for a better understanding of our world and industry...

@Senor_Kami and you, senor_Kami would then condemn said Wii U if third party support did not exist.

People, make up your damn mind already.

snxx

@feleasSo, according to your definition, all console makers, including Sony and Microsoft, are greedy buggers, since, you know, they also take games and make 'em exclusive (like the games from Remedy or Thatgamecompany). And if you refuse to acknowledge those consoles exists, well, that's your loss only. Have fun living in a limited little world.

Bixchpudding
Bixchpudding

@feleas Again, if Nintendo never funded it, it would not exist. Sony and Microsoft refused to fund it so they turned to Nintendo, and they funded the whole thing. So of course it's not coming to PS4 or XB1, why would they release a game for their competition?
And I doubt you have even tried Wii U, you mindless fanboy.

DETfaninATL
DETfaninATL

@lum0s You know what's pathetic? Your inability to understand a simple, plainly written post. In no way shape or form am I ragging on Nintendo. In fact, please point out in any of my posts above or below where specifically I'm doing that. My gripe is more with general circumstance than anything else. So take your ignorance, blinding fanboy-ism for Nintendo and your inability to understand what I'm discussing with one or two others and troll elsewhere. Thank-you and have a great day.

DETfaninATL

@AerLightwing I hear you man. I do. But I'm sorry, I simply can't justify spending essentially $350-$400 to play a single videogame, no matter how much I like it. Pretty much any game I'm interested in I can get on my PS 3 or 4, so beyond Bayonetta 2 the WiiU holds absolutely no interest for me. I hate it for Platinum games too because they're only going to see a small fraction of the revenue off this game that they would otherwise have if it had been released on multiple mainstream platforms.

DETfaninATL
DETfaninATL

@AerLightwing 'Hate' of a console or being 'elitist' has absolutely NOTHING to do with it my friend. It's simple #'s. I, nor many others, have the money or desire to own multiple gaming systems. Most of us alreay have a PS3 Or Xbox 360 and plan to stay on those platforms due to familiarity / friends on the same system / exclusive titles we like / features /  etc.  The WiiU, just like every one of Nintendo's other gaming systems is quickly proving to be a niche player in the gaming market and the majority of us don't feel the strong desire to switch for any number of reasons. So for me, barring a miracle, Bayonetta is dead to me.......

KimCheeWarriorX
KimCheeWarriorX

@snxx@SilentAssassinactually, games that were funded by particular sources have been known to be ported to other consoles. case in point, resident evil: code veronica. it was a sega dreamcast exclusive for a limited time even though the game's entire production was funded by sega as well as published by them but it still didnt stop capcom from eventually porting it to ps2 (and whatever other consoles that im not aware of).

02050muh
02050muh

@alrepairs @Senor_Kami after few years. they will release on other platform. coz the sale will not enough to support developing cost

02050muh
02050muh

@snxx @feleas other people need that money you bought for wii-u for food, gas, children, house, internet bills, electric bill, and also government tax. they think wii-u is not necessary in their life. so it will never exist in their mind. have fun playing your console. (hope it's not bought by your parents)

feleas
feleas

@snxx @feleas that is exactly what I'm saying. console games shouldn't be exclusive unless they're belonging to a mascot of that company in some way. So by you wanting an exclusive to consoles gaming world, then you by your own definition are living in a different but similar "limited little world."

DETfaninATL
DETfaninATL

@AerLightwing Hey, I wish nothing but the best for Platinum Games and Bayonetta 2 despite some conflicting feelings I have about the game simply due to the circumstances of it's exclusivity. But my statement directly above was based more on the fact that, worldwide, there are FAR more Xbox & Playstation owners combined than there are Nintendo WiiU owners. That's just an irrefutable statistical fact. Accordingly, if the sales for the first game were that bad across that much wider of a potential consumer base, then I don't think the sales prospects look any brighter for it's sequel across what is surely a smaller and limited consumer base. Make sense?

AerLightwing
AerLightwing

@DETfaninATL @AerLightwing Keep in mind that the first game did not do great in sales, so that 'small fraction' you're talking about isn't actually a fraction at all; it's an entirely unexplored demographical opportunity, because the series never came to a Nintendo console before now.

For all we know, the second game just may outsell its original BECAUSE it's being exposed to gamers that didn't get the chance at it on a Nintendo system before now, having chosen to go multiplatform just to experience it.

If the enthusiasm it has garnered from Nintendo gamers is any indication, then I'd say that it selling poorly is a long shot at this rate. Nintendo and Platinum have done a LOT to hype us for that game.

DETfaninATL
DETfaninATL

@AerLightwing Nah man, I don't dislike the WiiU at all. I just have no use for it beyond this one single title. Like I said, $$ is the primary factor for not getting one along with the other reasons I listed above. I actually think the WiiU has some pretty interesting features about it, but again, I just can't justify spending that kind of money for the system and the game, just to play one title when I know darn well I'm going to be sticking with the Playstation. Oh yeah, one other thing you should know about me as a gamer - I'm a HARDCORE trophy hunter. As silly as it may be, that's one of my biggest attractions to gaming (it feeds my anal-retentive side ;-) And to my knowledge, the WiiU doesn't have a trophy / achievement system. Or does it and I just don't know about it?

AerLightwing
AerLightwing

@DETfaninATL @AerLightwing If you don't have the money, then that's a reasonable excuse.

I can't fault you for that.

But if you're avoiding it simply because you hate the console itself, then that's an entirely different and totally biased story.

Nintendo's systems, as a majority, haven't been niche. Only the Virtual Boy and a couple of others qualify as niche.

And no, the Wii doesn't count either. It catered to casuals instead of cores, that doesn't make it niche.

AerLightwing
AerLightwing

@KimCheeWarriorX @snxx @SilentAssassin Sega is a unique case, though; they likely saw the direction their console was headed and decided to branch out to try and support what they knew was a sinking ship.

Nintendo, though it's got quite a bit of advertising problems, isn't in that same position, and they're not known for giving up rights to self-published/funded exclusives that easily, if at all.

AerLightwing
AerLightwing

@02050muh @alrepairs @Senor_Kami I've got over 200 people across various sites, AND all their friends, who will be glad to shove numbers in your face when they and everyone they know buys the game and proves you wrong.

snxx
snxx

@02050muh  @feleas And who said otherwise, 02050muh? Who said there aren't people with other, higher priorities, uses for their money? Of course not everybody can afford to have more than one gaming console. Heck, most people can't even afford one console, let alone two, three or more. But there's a huge difference between picking only one console because you can't have all and badmouthing the other consoles you couldn't afford.

Feleas may or not have enough money for buying a Wii and a Wii U on top of his favorite console (PS3, Xbox 360, or whatever), we can't posibly know that because we've never met him in person. However he's not saying "oh, that console is nice, but I can't afford", he said he refuses to acknowledge those consoles existence, and that's just downright obnoxious.

When you said "have fun playing your console" you may not have spoke in earnest, but if you did, that's the right attitude: have fun with your console(s) and let others have fun with theirs. All five 7th gen consoles can give us huge amounts of fun, and that will probably be true with all 8th gen consoles too. People should realize that. Even the Xbox One will probably be able to provide fun to it's users (it's many, many problems, lie elsewhere).

snxx
snxx

@feleas Yeah, yeah, yeah. There shouldn't be exclusives, all DLC should be free, all digitally distributed games should be cheaper than disc-based copies, consoles should never cost more than U$200.00 at launch and also all consoles should be region free and backwards compatible. But none of this is true, so let's come back to the real world, right? It's ugly, boring and unfair, but it's the world we live in.

It's irrelevant if me or you want or not to be exclusives in the gaming world (actually, I don't), the exclusives are here, they existed even before gaming consoles existed (or do you believe all computer games back them were compatible?) and will continue to exist because they make sense in a business point of view. Console makers use exclusives to attract buyers and will grab every opportunity to do so. I don't necessarily like it, but I'm also not spoiled to the point of believing that I'm entitled do be able to play every game on a single console.

And I maintain that, by refusing to acknowledge Nintendo consoles you're only limiting yourself and being "auto-deprived" of enjoying some very good games. But, hey, if you want to live on a bubble, it's your right to do so.

GameBeaten
GameBeaten

@feleas @snxx Unless they belong to a mascot? No, I think exclusives are going to exist based specific deals or if Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft has one of the studios they own working behind a title.
