Bayonetta 2 Hits Wii U October 24, Comes With Copy Of Original Game

Nintendo announces launch date for upcoming game.

Bayonetta 2, the sequel to Platinum Games' 2010's Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 title, will launch exclusively for Wii U on October 24, Nintendo announced today. If you buy the disc-based version of the game at retail, you'll also get a digital copy of the original Bayonetta.

Also included with the package are "some Nintendo cosplay options for the powerful heroine," Nintendo said.

Bayonetta 2 includes a number of features not found in the original, including a new snake transformation that lets Bayonetta move better in underwater passages. In addition, we learned at E3 in June that Bayonetta 2 will include mechs.

I'd much rather have a physical copy of the original bundled with the sequel.

Why is Bayonetta wearing clothes instead of just her hair? "Bayonetta too sexy for Wii U... Too sexy for Wii U... Too sexy for youuuuu...

FINALLY!  A RELEASE DATE!  I am SO down with this!

And I'm STILL hoping to see something Bayonetta-related in the upcoming Smash Bros. game.^_^

I have three words to say--  BEST OFFER EVER!  October 24th is truly a perfect date to release the highly anticipated Bayonetta 2 from Nintendo and Platinum Games to be released only for Wii U.  Two years ago was a huge shock to the video game universe that Nintendo is the only company funding and publishing the sequel after SEGA had cancelled the funding while both Sony and Microsoft rejected the offer.

When it launches, I'd be more than grateful and happy playing it... including the enhanced HD original at no additional cost... and free Nintendo themed costumes for the Umbra Witch to wear and kick butts.  If you are a true Bayonetta fan like myself, buy a Wii U Deluxe Set (32 GB), pre-order B2, and (after the game's launch) play it loud... REALLY loud!

Cool cool. Better buy that Wii U soon.

And why they've decided to go digital with the original is absolutely beyond me. There's plenty of space on the Bluray for 3 games, let alone 2.

I gather this is only for NA? What about Europe?

I held off playing the original on my 360 so I can play the new version along with the squeal. I hope it lives up to the hype. Wouldn't say it's a genre that tends to hold my interest for long but I'm hopeful that the plot and larger than life characters can keep me engaged thoughout these two games. I loved the Wonderful 101.

Why is Bayonetta rated so highly? It's a button masher with big, jiggly, b'reasts, and cluttered with w'impy, easily defeated enemies. It had everything that was and still is wrong with Devil May Cry and more. Once your b'oner subsides, what else is there?

I did enjoy the recent anime adaption though. It was like old school 90's anime.

I'm thrilled Bayonetta is getting a sequel...but, as I have never been a fan of a lot of Nintendo's games (except Metroid, I just prefer the platformers like the original and Super Metroid) it isn't enough to make me want to purchase a Wii U.  So, makes it kind of a waste for me.  I hope it does REALLY well, I just won't be one of those buying it.

What's funny here are people who complain about things like this games' exclusivity being bad for the community and gaming industry. Dude it's happening deal with it and if it weren't for Nintendo Bayonetta would have died four long years ago it first appeared and set the world on fire[sarcasm]. I'm happy someone stepped up to the plate and coughed up the cash, so if it's exclusive because of that then I am all for it. Better than not being made at all.

leikeylosh

Worst exclusivity deal in history of gaming. At least the new Tomb Raider will be a timed exclusive, but this... This hurts.

October is going to be a busy and expensive month...

Wait, I don't get a digital copy of Bayonetta 2 if I buy it digital to begin with?

This doesn't sound right.

It's a free game bro. Just be grateful and shut up

???

They didn't go digital. It's included on the disc.

korngp47

@IcedEarthaholic Perhaps they don't want to have to wait a few more months for it to come onto the disc?

jholden3249

Now you're just being ignorant. Bayonetta is a button masher like Street a Fighter or Injustice is a button masher. Sure, you CAN mash buttons, but you CANNOT progress without learning what does what.

Take Wonderful 101 for example. Certain enemies with spiked armor, can only be defeated if you draw that unite morph for the whip, which can then be used to snatch the armor off of the enemies.

Just because you conceivably could mash buttons, doesn't mean that's the way the game is meant to be played, and any gamer with half a brain and some basic level of skills is going to learn how to play the game properly.

Wonderful 101 is also proof that the game's appeal is not in the main character. Because that game was easily, EASILY one of the best games of 2013, even without a sexy female lead.

divinejester
divinejester

@Garm31 Because the main character is a woman and no other reason. As a game its just a DMC knock off, nowhere near as good as DMC 1 or 3. Or even Onimusha.

For the record I do think its a fun game, but I would not rate it higher than a 7 out of 10.

elheber
elheber

The game would not have existed had Nintendo not stepped in to fund it. It's totally different than the Tomb Raider fiasco.

zeldafan195
zeldafan195

@leikeylosh And yet another port beggar.

Do you not understand the deal here? Nintendo didn't hijack the franchise, they freaking saved it. Without Nintendo publishing it, IT... WOULD... NOT... HAVE... BEEN... CREATED.

SavageEvil
SavageEvil

@elheber I think you read that wrong, if you buy the physical copy of Bayonetta 2 at retail you get the digital copy of Bayonetta 1. I would actually prefer a physical copy of both though but I won't complain just yet. Are Wii U games on external HD playable from there or does it require moving it to main HD to use?

BradBurns
BradBurns

@henryblackman @kane6911 Maybe Nintendo should have kept the Wii in production for a bit longer. It was still selling very well when they pulled the plug on it; every unit sold made a profit for Nintendo.

Sometimes the behavior of corporations makes no sense. I guess they wanted to give potential Wii owners a nudge towards the Wii U but still.

IcedEarthaholic
IcedEarthaholic

@jholden3249 actually, it's a separate disc from the 2nd. A Nintendo representative did confirm that those who reserve the physical copy of Bayonetta 2 get the first game on a separate disc.

IcedEarthaholic
IcedEarthaholic

@korngp47 Nope, the game should definitely be coming on disc alongside Bayonetta 2. The article I posted pretty much proves it. I think they didn't check further with their source. Should mine come with a digital copy of the first game, I'm gonna sell that on e-Bay. Ain't got time for that noise.

IcedEarthaholic
IcedEarthaholic

Yup, they didn't bother checking further on their source. They just went with what was told at E3 without digging really.

jholden3249
jholden3249

You see the same ignorance with the 3DS announcement. People saying that the games will be exclusive, as if the normal 3DS user base is going to be losing games somehow.

When Nintendo's clearly stated the only games that will be exclusive are games that could not have otherwise run on the hardware. So normal 3DS users are losing nothing, just like PlayStation and Xbox gamers are losing nothing with Bayonetta 2, because it wouldn't have otherwise existed.

@zeldafan195 @leikeylosh Yes thank you nintendo. It is like showing a man dying of thirst pictures of water and telling him "dont worry water exists you will be alright"

Nintendo is the greatest gaming company on the entire planet. Thank you again nintendo for creating bayonetta 2.

elheber

@SavageEvil @elheber I read it right. I buy only digital for my Wii U, so I'm wondering if/why this bundle is being reported only for retail copies.

IcedEarthaholic
IcedEarthaholic

@Ripper_TV read the article I just posted sir, this article actually has a major error. The one from NintendoEverything is the one I believe since they touched base with an NoA representative.

Thanks for clarifying.

Come to think of it I do remember them saying that now.

@l0ne_wanderer More like them offering you water, but you throwing it in their face because its not in the leaky cup you're oddly attached to.

Nev3rtime
Nev3rtime

@elheber @SavageEvil I only buy digital too. I believe that they confirmed that the deal was also for digital purchases, some time ago, after a rumour started to circulate and be reported that it wouldn't be the case.

l0ne_wanderer
l0ne_wanderer

@Twilord @l0ne_wanderer No. what they are doing is asking me money for the same water because it is in a different water bottle. I cant buy another console. Not everyone is rich yo.

I used to love bayonetta but i am not going to go broke just for her.

Twilord
Twilord

@l0ne_wanderer If you're not that well of you should, when you come to the current generation, go for the console with free online and the lowest price of entrance.

Besides if you TRULY loved her then it is wrong to give out to the real-life equivalent of a country that has the medical research funded that she needs to live, when all other countries would rather watch her die slow and painfully from an excruciating flesh eating disease than fork out the money. Or would you rather see her dead and buried in your home country?

l0ne_wanderer
l0ne_wanderer

@Twilord You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a wii u exclusive.

edit: I threw my ps3 copy of bayonetta away and also deleted all pictures of her from my pc.
