Battlefield 4 mission challenges players to collect 10 million dog tags in one week

First DICE Community Mission begins today and runs through February 11; get knifing!

by

Sharpen up those knives, Battlefield 4 players.

The first DICE Community Mission began today and it challenges players to collectively grab 10,000,000 dog tags using melee attacks by February 11 at 8 a.m. PDT, the developer announced on its website today.

The mission is available across all platforms, and if it is completed in time, all participating players will receive a gold battlepack on February 20. You can track mission progress on Battlelog through the "Missions" tab."

Electronic Arts announced last month that February would be "Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month," featuring Community Missions like the one now underway, as well as a double XP weekend and other freebies. The move is a make-good effort for the game's dramatic server woes that plagued the game at launch, but have dissipated considerably since.

Are you going to take part in the Community Mission? Let us know in the comments below.

Not enough compensation for this disaster.

well, by now, it should've been 3,6-4,1 millions right? just 5 million knifing and counter knives to go

Not bothered knifing people because I want my gun unlocks, however last night I did 3 knife kills in a few minutes, so yeah only another 8,600,000 to go.

It's ok. I'll use my shank or rusty machete to represent the rough (ahem) edges of this terribly buggy lagfest

so we'll end up with 12 million counter knife deaths?

Dice was probably thinking let's keep giving the players enough distractions, and they won't notice how bad the game really is.

Dissipated considerably since? What planet are you on? I'm getting more crashes and console freezes than ever before. Atleast 2 out of every 5 matches I'm playing result in freezes. Along with the horrible lag, rubber banding, dying behind cover, being killed by players on 0% health and all the other common battlefield bugs that have been carried over from BF3, this game is in a seriously bad state. It amazes me this game was released in the condition it's in, or was at launch. It amazes me more that they seem to break it more and more with each so called 'Fix'. As fun as this game can be, it is definitely in a very sorry state.

Better challenge: Fix the game

So, I still can't even connect.  At all.  To any game type.  I'm told I should try to uninstall and all that, but my 1.5 mbps connection will take forever to patch that **** again.

I tried to contribute but after 3 matches I couldn't take the lag anymore. Getting head shot by grenades is not fun lol

LOL.  I'll bet 8 million tags will be taken by counter knifing all the idiots just running at people trying to stab them head on.

I just got this game on sunday for the xbox 360,it is fantastic.I have had barely any problems,it has frozen three times and sometimes the sound goes out.It is still enjoyable.I do not see what people's problems are with this game.

How does one kill that which has no life?

Ha, I actually thought it was 10 mil per person, thinking now it would be physically impossible.

You realize you get a gold battlepack every other level up...and 18 with premium lol. How about releasing something productive like the next map pack!!!

@Inlex  I'm just getting back into it. I played at launch, hated the bugs/lag/oneshotdeaths/etc and I stopped. But now they've made a lot of changes and updates. One X1 it's running quite nicely.

@beuneus12  This is Gamespot, it is not their game. Saying "Fix your game" means nothing here.

@berzerk0912  Aside from crashes on Dawnbreaker(360) and some horrible rubberbanding on Hainan Resort(PS4) I have seen no problems with the game.

@berzerk0912  At least I or we(?) didn't get Ghosts.... that's a true disaster on the PC especially.

@radcrab123 and as long as people like you continue to support this kind of practice from EA & Activision. We will continue to see rushed, broken, and unfinished games. EA & Activision knows this. Thanks for your contribution of ruining my favorite hobby.

@DiamondDM13 @ddogbritt16  I'm not sure about when the dog version came out, I think it was in the 1940's,but you are right it was done first by the chinese in 1851.

DiamondDM13
DiamondDM13

@ddogbritt16 @DiamondDM13Yes, except Chinese used them before that. I can't really tell when the Dog version of the tags came around, but I would assume it was before the one made for humans. After all, it was due to the similarity to the dog tags counterparts that they started referring to them as Dog Tags too.

ddogbritt16
ddogbritt16

@DiamondDM13 Dog tags originated in the civil war, soldiers would attach paper notes with their information to their clothes.By 1906 the US army authorized identification tags. The term "Dog tag" was made by Randolph Hearst in 1936.So humans started wearing identification tags"Dog tags" before dogs.

DiamondDM13
DiamondDM13

@MapleLeafKush @DiamondDM13No you dummy, because dog tags are for dogs... although they decided to give them to humans in the military for some reason, that may be an understandable reason. But it's still a dog tag for dogs, hence why I made the reference to dogs.
